About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Cost & Productivity, the Manager, FP&A (Contract) is responsible for driving operating expense (OPEX) performance and financial visibility across Element’s US and Canada business. This role partners closely with senior and executive leadership, as well as cross-functional teams, to deliver actionable financial insights, improve forecasting accuracy, and identify opportunities to optimize cost structure, profitability, and efficiency. The successful candidate will lead planning and performance management processes, challenge business assumptions, and translate data into clear recommendations that drive measurable financial outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead month-end close activities for assigned functions, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and clear understanding of cost drivers and variances.
  • Prepare and present monthly Management Operating Review (MOR) materials, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Generate actionable financial insights, including variance analysis, scenario modeling, and data-driven recommendations to support decision-making and improve OPEX performance across US/CA functions.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance forecasting models and operational reporting to improve visibility and drive accountability to financial target.
  • Support and influence planning processes (budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning) across US/CA, ensuring alignment to financial objectives.
  • Partner cross-functionally with business leaders to manage operating expenses, challenge spend, and identify cost optimization opportunities.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship and day-to-day direction to Senior Financial Analyst while fostering healthy learning environment.
  • Manage ad-hoc analysis and strategic initiatives focused on cost efficiency, profitability improvement, and business performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in FP&A, finance, business operations, or consulting, at least 2 years of experience of managing people.
  • Strong experience in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Strong business partnering mindset with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive accountability.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Effective communication skills, with experience presenting to senior and executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth, or matrixed environment preferred.
  • CPA or equivalent designation is a plus.
  • Experience supporting operating expense management and cost optimization initiatives strongly preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization and automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Power Automate, Alteryx) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP and financial systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, OneStream) is a plus.
  • Experience with SQL or willingness to learn.

Location

Toronto

The hiring base salary range for this position is $99,200 to $136,400 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
