Job Details:

Position Title: Financial Aid Officer

Status: Full Time (Appendix D until Oct 2026)

Hours: 35 hours per week

Faculty/Department: Office of the Registrar

Campus/Location: North Campus. This is a hybrid position - the successful applicant must be comfortable working on-site at minimum four (4) days per week.

Salary: Payband: I

Salary Range:$40.39 – 46.64

Starting Salary: $40.39

Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.

About the Office of the Registrar at Humber:

The Office of the Registrar supports and celebrates student success. We provide students and the campus community with support through the distribution of key information, high-quality service delivery and the maintenance of essential systems and processes. Our dedicated staff work in a myriad of areas including Admissions, Academic Records, Convocation, Contact Centre, Fees, Financial Aid, Registration & Course Scheduling, Reporting, and Student Systems at both our North and Lakeshore campuses. About the Financial Aid Officer Role:

Under the direction of the Manager, Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Officer analyzes and coordinates the financial aid/OSAP/bursary and scholarship process and is the subject matter expert on financial aid, as such, complex or non-routine issues are escalated to the incumbent. The incumbent provides information and communicates with prospective students, applicants, guidance counsellors, parents, faculty and college administrators regarding a broad range of financial aid-related question/topics. The incumbent supports the College’s recruitment and admissions efforts by developing and delivering information sessions on and off-campus.

Additional responsibilities include: acting as a key team member to the Financial Aid Advisors, all part-time staff and Work Study students; dealing with difficult and complex clients as referred by the Financial Aid Advisors, college faculty or administrators; administration of special programs including Out of Province loans and Bursaries for Students with Disabilities; provides support for the annual financial aid cycle by participating in validating and testing financial aid forms, queries and processes that affect financial aid for all program levels; analyzes and recommends solutions or enhancements to processes; trains financial aid staff; monitors, investigates and trouble-shoots student record issues.

Education

  • The successful candidate will possess a three-year diploma or degree in Public Relations, Accounting or Business.

Experience/Skills:

  • A minimum of three years of professional experience working in student financial aid services including working with OSAP, Ministry Onekey Systems, Scholarships, Bursaries and emergency loans administration.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Proficiency with various software programs.
  • Proven ability to handle a variety of tasks with ongoing deadlines.
  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Ontario College system.
