Role Description The Lead Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable back-end services and core software components that power Somi AI’s products. This full-time remote role involves leading technical architecture decisions, guiding implementation across services and APIs, and ensuring code quality, performance, and reliability. The person in this role will mentor other engineers, review code, and establish best practices for software development and deployment. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with product and research teams, translating requirements into technical solutions, improving existing systems, and contributing to long-term technical strategy. The Lead Software Engineer will also help drive continuous improvement in development processes, testing, and observability. Qualifications Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and systems design. Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience shipping production-quality software. Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, microservices, and integration with data systems. Solid understanding and practical use of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles in modern languages. Experience leading engineering projects or teams, with the ability to make architectural decisions and manage trade-offs. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Comfort working in a remote, distributed team environment, with strong communication and collaboration skills. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience with AI, machine learning, or data-intensive systems is a plus.
