THE ROLE:
AMD's server software and solutions engineering team is seeking a senior engineering manager to lead a team focused on software and application optimization with major public cloud service providers. This role requires a deep understanding of x86 architecture, database internals, software profiling, and optimization. Strong leadership skills and experience in managing engineering teams, cross-functional collaboration, and partner engineering are essential. You will work closely with product, marketing, and silicon development teams to shape strategies for enablement, performance optimization, and competitive analysis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You will lead the team on system and software configurations, typical application deployment for internal / first-party SaaS properties at cloud-service providers.
- You will interact with technical experts at major cloud-service providers to demonstrate performance and price-performance advantages of these applications running on AMD EPYC CPU-based instances.
- You will lead development and optimization across the software properties for multiple software applications managed in the cloud including running and reviewing performance data and benchmark results for these SaaS offerings.
- You will lead the team to analyze performance profiles, find and mitigate hotspots using industry-standard tools as well as tools specific to customer deployments.
- Deep knowledge of instances at major cloud-service providers is expected along with a strong knowledge of their configuration profiles on EPYC as well as competitive platforms to develop migration strategies.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive knowledge of x86 computing architecture
- Proven experience in software development and performance optimization
- Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing engineering teams
- In-depth expertise in VMware, Nutanix, Linux operating systems, and hypervisors as well as industry-standard benchmarks.
- Extensive knowledge of cloud instances, internal properties and deployment models desired.
- Strong experience managing teams for performance analysis, tuning and optimization for software applications deployed in the cloud.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related equivalent
- 10+ years applicable field experience
