Our team ensures AMD GPUs are available to developers within AMD and the larger AI ecosystem. The lab manager is an integral part of the team and will be responsible for local lab systems with AMD GPUs as well as interacting with teams that manage remote, shared systems. The ideal candidate is well organized, shows great attention to detail and employs critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage server lab environment and infrastructure, including rack and stack, space management, power and AC balancing, maintenance and full life cycle management 
  • Bring up new systems as needed in the lab with desired GPU configuration 
  • Monitor and troubleshoot the technical environment for problems and perform root cause analysis 
  • Proactively identify and systematically execute preventative system upgrades 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all documented processes and procedures 
  • Create images and best practices for server configurations 
  • Implement and maintain equipment inventory 
  • Develop or work with the SHARK infra team to develop server health monitoring solutions to improve the efficiency of lab operations 
  • Partner with team manager to manage budgets, contracts, purchase orders, and invoices 
  • Lead efforts for data center space planning and hardware requirements 
  • Work cross functionally with facilities, security and IT teams to ensure compliance in environment 

Preferred Experience:

  • Expertise in implementing local, on-premises test environments in an automated fashion
  • Experience in technical lab administration
  • Deep knowledge and strong hands-on experience with datacenter technologies
  • Knowledge Linux operating systems as well as computer architecture, including BIOS, drivers, CPU, memory, storage, and graphics
  • Ability to prioritize competing work requests, develop deliverables roadmap, and keep stake holders updated through lifecycle
  • Experience with JIRA and workflow automations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • "Automate and Scale" mindset
  • Experienced with GPU acceleration with either AMD or Nvidia products
  • Experienced with virtualization technology such as VMware, ESXi or KVM

Preferred Academic Credentials:

B.S. degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or significant, relevant work experience

Location:

San Jose - required to be in the office each work day for hands-on management of the lab systems
