Job Description: This position reports to the manager of mental health and addiction services, rehabilitation services. The community mental health nurse supervisor/educator will work closely with the manager to supervise and evaluate nursing staff, provide leadership and function as a role model and mentor to assist staff with professional development and achievement of mental health and addiction services program goals. The primary functions of this position are researching best practices, educating community mental health nurses on best practices, providing clinical supervision to community mental health nurses and to successfully manage, support and sustain change.

Experience

  • 5 years of direct clinical experience in providing community based case management services to clients with long term mental illness required

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Competencies

  • Basic - Supervisory skills
  • Basic - Communication skills

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work and communicate in a cross cultural setting
  • Knowledge in the SHA, community resources and applicable programming
  • Knowledge in developing policies, procedures and standards
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge in education and program development, implementation and evaluation
