Job Description: Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, who reports to the Manager of Ambulatory Care, the Enterostomal Therapy Nurse (ETN) provides specialized nursing services to individuals in Southern Saskatchewan who may develop or have a disorder of the genitourinary, gastrointestinal, and integumentary systems. The counseling, education and care provided by the ETN is evidence-based and assists the individual to attain an optimal level of rehabilitation and quality of life. The ETN collaborates with the individual, significant others, and members of the health care team. As a consultant, educator, clinician, researcher, and administrator the ETN must respond to many unscheduled inpatient and outpatient situations. The incumbent must be flexible, adaptable, and able to priorize care. The ETN functions in accordance with the RQHR policies and procedures.

Experience

  • Five (5) years clinical experience

Education

  • Enterostomal Therapy certificate
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Licenses

  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Communicates effectively with patients and families
  • Knowledge of hospital and community resources to ensure continuity of care.
  • Works well as a team member & mentor, strong leadership & interpersonal skills

Other Information

  • If there are no qualified applicants, consideration may be given to applicants with a BSN who must be willing to enter the Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Education Program at the next available opportunity (sponsorship will be provided with a return for service commitment). Completion or near completion of the program is required within 2 years of starting in the position. During this training period and until successful completion of the ETN certification, salary will be maintained at present rate.
