Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, Program Services Continuing Care Education this position provides supervision and direction to the Clinical Nurse Educators. This position combines elements of nursing education, leadership, and coordination to ensure that the educational programs and initiatives delivered by Clinical Nurse Educators are effective, aligned with organizational goals, and contribute to the professional development of nursing staff. The incumbent will facilitate effective program planning, assess program needs, support the team to develop programs and delivery, conduct continuous quality improvement analyses to recognize opportunity for improvement and manage the human resources in an efficient manner.

Experience

  • Experience in teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities
  • Requires experience in program/resource development related to needs assessment.
  • Program decision implementation and evaluation
  • Minimum 5 years recent exp. related to the Clinical Areas (LTC, acute care)
  • Minimum 3 years in the past five years in a supervisory/leadership position

Education

  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing
  • Degree in Nursing with courses in supervision or degree in edu./adult learning

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Proven skill in program or project planning and evaluation.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • work w/portfolio consultants, regional portfolios, ext.agencies, prov. bodies.
  • Knowledge in adult education principles, methods and tools
  • Effective leadership including planning, supervising & directing work of others
  • knowledge of concepts/strategies used to develop/deliver educational programming
  • Proficient in the operation of word processing, spreadsheet and power point
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices.
  • knowledge regarding the delivery of care in both LTC and acute care sites.
  • Ability to mentor others.
