The Digital Business Solutions organization within the Chief Information Office (CIO) is a team of passionate and innovative technical experts responsible for creating technology systems and solutions which enable improved outcomes for our Enterprise, Consumer and Business customers.

As Director Digital Commerce Engineering, you will leverage your strong technical and business acumen to lead a team of Mediation, Rating & Charging software development experts in the pursuit of engineering excellence whilst delivering new digital capabilities to support improved customer outcomes. You will report to the Vice President, Digital Business Solutions and will spearhead a transformational journey to achieve a technology leadership position while promoting a culture of reliability in a cloud-native operating environment.

Your mandate is to collaborate with and provide remarkable services to our business partners by setting the vision, developing the strategy, defining the appropriate roadmaps, and establishing the optimum structure to drive a culture of accountability.

For this position you will bring together a diverse group of team members and consultants to design and administer resilient solutions, and drive improvements in productivity, efficiency and team member satisfaction. You will be collaborating with and influencing a broad group of senior leaders to determine the business imperatives, prioritization of products, and timelines.

What you'll do

  • Provide strategic vision and leadership to a highly engaged, high-performing development team, to deliver industry-leading capabilities that support strategic objectives
  • Act as trusted advisor and collaborative partner, fostering strong relationships with all stakeholders to collectively meet the business priorities and maximize improvements in customer experience
  • Build and develop an effective software development organization, leveraging a strong foundation of internal resource expertise and external partners
  • Achieve engineering excellence through your extensive knowledge of software engineering practices and principles
  • Establish a proven track record for driving change into other parts of the business and partner teams
  • Lead large multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams to design, build, and sustain applications with a focus on systems usability, performance, security, quality and reliability
  • Uphold our culture of reliability by proactively collaborating with the appropriate teams to identify and remediate risks to our systems
  • Develop, engage, socialize, and gain approval on business cases and strategies
  • Create and deliver presentations to executive leadership team on key strategic opportunities and initiatives
  • Provide leadership with respect to financial responsibility and supply/demand management
  • Manage technology and application road maps and prioritize backlogs to support focus on reliability and digital strategy
  • Champion and lead the adoption and maturation of agile and DevOps practices, with a strong product focus

Great-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Billing, Mediation and/or Rating and Charging technology domains
  • Familiarity with industry-leading and open-source software for development and operations
  • Experience with building and supporting cloud-native (public/private) applications and services
  • Knowledge of web security issues and technologies for authentication, encryption, and authorization
  • Understanding of web-based application architectures and knowledge of several digital-first technologies including application servers, portal technologies, web services, middleware, systems infrastructure
