An overview of your future role at BBA

Reporting to the President and by matrix structure to the COO, the Chief Practice and Technology Officer (CPTO) is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of the firm's engineering practices (professional standards), engineering and operational technological systems, innovation, quality and continuous improvement efforts, as well as the BBA University.

This role combines leadership in engineering methodologies and operational technological advancements to drive efficiency and excellence across the organization. The CPTO plays a pivotal role in ensuring the development and implementation of innovative solutions, adoption of cutting-edge technologies and enhancing engineering practices to position the firm as an industry leader.


An overview of your mandates and responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology and practice strategy aligned with the firm’s goals
  • Spearhead the alignment of our firm’s technological resources, expertise and practices with our strategic goals
  • Develop, implement and continually improve practice standards to enhance service delivery, client satisfaction and business performance
  • Ensure practice areas meet industry standards and comply with regulations.
  • Integrate advanced technology and software into engineering to boost efficiency, innovation and quality, speed of delivery and quality of deliverables, which are fundamental to our clients and our ability to compete in this ever-changing business environment
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and professional development within our teams, across all regions and practices
  • Lead the adoption of new technologies and methods
  • Establish and manage an innovation portfolio.
  • Build partnerships with external organizations
  • Design and implement educational strategies aligned with BBA’s strategic goals, and partner with universities, educational consultants and industry experts and develop
    curriculums
  • Manage internal and external training programs
  • Ensure client satisfaction
  • Manage quality systems
  • Implement a zero-cost overhead structure for the firm, while tools, software, training and expertise are billed to our clients
  • Collaborate with other senior executives to align best practice goals with overall business objectives
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of initiatives
  • Report on progress and outcomes to the executive team and board of directors.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant technical program, a Ph.D. would be a strong asset
  • Ability to understand and challenge our current paths or plans
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing management and operational technology functions
  • Technical savvy with a deep understanding of engineering development methodologies and emerging trends
  • Demonstrated success in developing and launching innovative, profitable products and solutions
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable solutions and technology strategies
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate people and lead change
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to align services and technology initiatives with overall business goals
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Asset: Fluent English and French, both written and spoken.
