Job Description
As the Senior Back End Developer at RBC, you will be part of a dynamic and cross-functional team working on the developer portal that serves Api re-usability and DevOps patterns capabilities. This portal is designed for both internal and external RBC developers to create production-grade applications that align with RBC's high standards for quality and security. Your role will involve using your back-end expertise to build automation tools that assist teams in building and deploying their products efficiently, following cloud-native patterns and promoting best practices for clean and professional code.
You will have the chance to grow within the RBC development community, sharing knowledge and applying your technical expertise to keep RBC at the forefront of development practices. What will you do:
You will be creating new services and developer-facing applications using the latest technologies which will shape the future of banking for RBC
Collaborate with other developers on the team to model and design new API interfaces
Develop and support highly scalable, high-performance APIs within an Agile development team
Automate processes within the development pipeline; identify opportunities for efficiency gains and reducing time-to-market, and enabling continuous delivery
Design and develop code structures to promote reusability across many applications
Work within an agile product team comprised of technical, product and business team members to deliver exceptional products.
Guide and mentor other developers to elevate the entire team's skillset and mindset. Coach others on the team and practice peer-programming.
In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
B.S. degree in Computer Science or related technical field (e.g. EE, physics or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience with minimum 3 years experience with Golang, Java or Python
2+ years experience developing distributed cloud applications (Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Openshift, Docker)
1 year experience working with AI and LLMs
Experience working with DevOps pipelines (Git, Maven, Github actions), continuous integration/delivery, automated testing (unit, functional, performance)
Hands on experience designing, developing, testing and troubleshooting RESTful API and interface specifications (Swagger, RAML, SOAP)
Experience working with security gateways and protocols (JWT, Oauth2.0, SSL Certificates)
Working knowledge of web-based application architectures and frameworks (including Angular or AngularJS) and the way it integrates with services.
Nice-to-have:
Object Oriented coding practices, including strong design patterns knowledge, refactoring, clean code.
LLM training, RAG experience
Experience working with Kafka, MySQL, Non-relational databases, Caching
Experience in BDD and TDD methodologies
