About the role

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer to join our growing team!

What you'll do here:

  • Perform system and programming needs analysis to identify encountered issues and provide solution proposals including program specifications.

  • Develop system specifications, code, modify, test, and debug computer programs under general supervision, according to planned schedules and timelines.

  • Master the technical and business functionalities of the system to explain them to other colleagues, while interacting effectively with users.

  • Translate requirements into technical specifications/software components.

  • Organize and manage production sessions.

  • Ensure the design and modeling of programmatic solutions for complex problems to meet documented functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Review design within deliverables (code and design quality).

  • Develop and support complex components.

  • Support and guide the project team in development activities to ensure the quality of delivered code while respecting project deadlines.

  • Write unit and integration tests for each function requiring development.

  • Participate in the implementation of regression testing strategies to improve the stability of application components.

  • Provide support and maintenance (level 1) of the application and resolve complex anomalies.

  • Work independently.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any combination of education and equivalent experience.

  • At least 5 years of development experience.

  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data.

  • Good knowledge of the development cycle, especially testing processes.

  • Initiative and ability to work under pressure.

  • Team player with attention to detail.

  • 4+ years of testing experience using JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine/Jest, Postman/SoapUI/ReadyAPI.

  • 4+ years of experience in building server-side applications using Java 11+, Spring Boot, and creating web services or APIs using REST. Extensive experience in object-oriented analysis and design.

  • 3+ years of experience in designing and developing software involving multi-tier web applications using Java, Java-based application technologies, and JavaScript.

  • Knowledge and awareness of service-oriented architecture, experience with microservices, and event-driven implementation using Kafka.

  • Strong knowledge of UX design principles.

  • Experience with PL/SQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Elasticsearch.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

  • Bilingual (French/English) - For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English speaking colleagues across the country.

Preferred experience in the following areas:

  • Source code control using GitHub.

  • Coding using IntelliJ, WebStorm (or Visual Studio Code).

  • Angular Material UI component library.

  • Automation generation using Maven (and/or Gradle).

  • Code quality using SonarQube, FindBugs, CheckStyle.

  • Software deployment using Docker containers.

  • Deployment in OpenShift/Kubernetes.

  • End-to-end application performance analysis and optimization.

  • Collaboration in an Agile Scrum/Kanban environment.

  • Knowledge/experience with Git Co-Pilot, Dynatrace, CLM.
