Contract Duration: 6 months extendable to 11 months

Reporting to the Lead Data Scientist, the Intern, Traffic and Economic Forecasting will support the various ACI World's initiatives in leveraging cross-functional data to drive insights for the airport industry. This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual pursuing a career in data science, analytics, or a related field. The internship offers hands-on experience in the end-to-end process of applying analytical skills to solve real-world industry challenges.

I. Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Collaborate with the Lead Data Scientist to analyze datasets related to airport traffic and economic performance.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of forecasting models utilizing statistics, machine learning, and other quantitative methodologies.
  • Support the cleaning, transformation, and visualization of data using Python, R, Power BI, or other preferred tools.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and Proof-of-Concepts to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in the datasets.
  • Support data collection activities, including sourcing external public datasets, conducting surveys, or collaborating with stakeholders to gather relevant information.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis or other related tasks as needed

Optional Responsibilities (opportunities to expand learning and contribute)

  • Assist in research activities, including literature reviews, hypothesis testing, statistical analysis, results interpretation, and technical writing.
  • Assist in publishing reports, visualizations, presentations, and other communication materials to effectively convey insights to stakeholders.
  • Assist in organizing the forecasting workshops, subcommittee meetings, and feedback surveys.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials or case studies for workshops.

II. Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree in a relevant field such as data science, economics, statistics, mathematics, aviation management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of statistical models and testing methodologies, time-series data analysis, and Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and/or SQL programming is a plus.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Experience in data collection, processing, quality control, and visualization.

  • Proactive, Problem-solving, and organizational skills to carry out all tasks required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Fluent reading, writing, and speaking abilities in English.
  • Aviation industry experience is an asset.
