Hybrid position in Montreal!

We are looking for a bilingual DevOps Specialist to join our team of experts in cloud infrastructure and DevOps best practices.

You will support our organization in designing and implementing technical solutions addressing security, cloud infrastructure, and deployment challenges (Amazon Web Services / Kubernetes / GitLab / Linux).

Your key strengths for success in this role will be:

Your experience in replicating a server in a data center like OVH (server installation, configuration, networking, and virtualization) – this will be your first mission!

Your high level of autonomy

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Linux System Administration

  • Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers, including OS installation, performance tuning, and security updates.
  • Administer critical services such as HAProxy, Nginx, Apache, C++ applications, and custom monitoring and logging solutions.
  • Automate routine tasks using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and shell/Python scripts to optimize system administration and management processes.
  • Implement system hardening practices to ensure high security and resilience levels.

Cloud Infrastructure & Containers

  • Administer Kubernetes clusters (EKS): maintenance, updates, and monitoring.
  • Oversee and optimize infrastructure deployed on OVH and AWS, including advanced networking management (VPC, Security Groups, ACLs, routing).
  • Actively contribute to system migration and modernization efforts to enhance resilience and scalability.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

  • Monitor system and network performance metrics (latency, response times) using tools like Datadog and diagnose issues to ensure optimal service availability.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex problems involving networks, databases, or application performance.

Infrastructure Security & Resilience

  • Implement security best practices for Linux servers, containers, and cloud services.
  • Apply timely security patches to prevent vulnerabilities.
  • Manage and monitor secure access via VPN, SSH keys, and AWS IAM policies.
  • Participate in security audits and post-incident analyses to identify and resolve weaknesses.
  • Deploy tools and processes to automate threat detection and response (e.g., vulnerability scans, log monitoring).

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with development teams to integrate robust solutions aligned with DevOps and GitOps best practices.
  • Be available for on-call support (with bonuses) and respond quickly to critical incidents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Experience: Several years of experience managing and administering Kubernetes clusters in an enterprise environment.
  • Development Environment: Understanding of Java and C++ development ecosystems.
  • AWS Expertise: Advanced usage of Amazon Web Services in a professional setting, including cloud service management and optimization.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of Linux and Docker (containerd) troubleshooting, as well as IP networking expertise, including AWS ACLs, routing, security groups, and VPCs.
  • Cybersecurity: Strong experience in security, including VPN management and security incident response.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in French (written and spoken) and ability to work in English.
  • Additional Assets: Backend development experience and awareness of financial aspects related to infrastructure management.
  • Autonomy & Proactivity: Ability to learn and solve problems independently.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills and ability to share best practices.
  • Organization & Rigor: Ability to manage projects effectively and solve complex problems.
  • Communication & Pedagogy: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and raise awareness of best practices among teams.

The use of French is required as this position involves direct communication with colleagues or clients across all provinces of Canada.
