Cloud Infastrcuture Specialist primes are able to define and document technology direction, conduct POCs, run point on new innovations for TELUS health as well as present to Leadership on business value for technology selection.

Additionally, an effective Cloud Infastrcuture Specialist will be able to keep up with industry changes in their domain and help to lead the delivery of new technology throughout the domain. Finally, they will operate beyond just their technology area through providing consultation on an entire app flow and makes design recommendations that span domains.

What you'll do

  • Build shared solutions for application teams and define platform/ tools/ vendor agnostic patterns to suit applications' needs
  • Bringing a strong focus on monitoring and observability in line with SRE principles.
  • Communicate highly complex ideas and concepts to non-technical peers and customers
  • Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners
  • Support the development team and perform activities to resolve developer issues in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Engineer build and release processes
  • Ability to effectively manage and partner with technology vendors to deliver against business objectives
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on standards, products, and services
  • Ensure application and infrastructure architectural solutions are stable, secure, and compliant with Company standards and practices
  • Implement all technologies in accordance with Information Security's guiding principles for highly sensitive data
  • Provide high-availability operational support and automate solutions across the environment
  • Implement deep telemetry capabilities to provide ongoing success and performance metrics
  • Implement service monitoring across all platforms to ensure continuous availability and operational continuity of critical systems
  • Uphold company policies, and legal/regulatory requirements, such as PCI and SOC/2
  • Implement and maintain system configurations and baselines to support secure application development software control best practices and standards
  • Act as a SME in consultation with Management and other teams of developers, architects and business analysts to ensure defined strategies and best practices are adhered to.
  • Assist in project planning and the coordination of all elements of IT architectural design strategy, execution and follow-up
  • Makes complex, critical, technical decisions with confidence and through engaging in spirited collaboration and debate
  • Acts as 3rd line of support in supporting product environments from Development to Production

What you bring

  • 9+ years of experience in system administration, network administration, and systems engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience
  • Deep experience with one or more Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. GCP, Azure & AWS)
  • 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following languages: Terraform, Python, Cloudformation, AWS CDK
  • Expert level skills with scripting such as Bash, Python, Powershell
  • 5+ years' Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures, cloud native architectures, containers, Kubernetes and serverless technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to debug and infrastructure as code and automate routine tasks including a functional understanding of implementing and using CI/CD Pipelines
  • Interest in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
  • Proven ability to translate insights into business recommendations
  • Deep knowledge in application design methodologies
  • Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as SOX, PCI, HIPAA, Data Protection, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing high capacity, redundant, and mission critical (24x7) environments
  • Familiarity with modern databases technologies
  • Proficiency in TCP/IP networking, architecture and core technologies (DNS, routing, iptables, tc, etc.)
