As a member of the Security Operations Center team within the Chief Security Office at TELUS you will be part of a growing national team that monitors and responds to security incidents for our managed security services customers and TELUS. In this exciting role, you will be constantly learning, growing and getting your hands on the newest technologies in fast-paced and complex environments.

As a Security Consultant in our SOC, you'll serve as a frontline defender of our security environment, leveraging cutting-edge technology in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. This role offers continuous learning opportunities and exposure to advanced security technologies while protecting complex enterprise environments.

By utilizing your cyber security, systems and IT security controls experience, this role will provide you the opportunity to develop into a fully competent security professional in areas of security operations, managed detection and response, incident response, risk management and SIEM technologies.

What you'll do

As part of the 24x7 Security Operations Center team, you will:

  • Be a part of a collaborative and supportive team that is required to work on a 24/7/365 rotating shift schedule
  • Utilize your cyber security skills to perform alert monitoring, triage, investigation and escalation to customers
  • Perform high-quality security investigations, escalations and reports
  • Perform or recommend basic incident response containment actions or escalate to Tier 2 when required
  • Respond to and action all customer inquiries, phone calls and service requests received
  • Attend customer meetings and present security monitoring reports to customers
  • Make recommendations for use case tuning opportunities
  • Documentation of tier 1 processes and procedures

What you bring

  • Demonstrated expertise in security investigation across multiple platforms
  • Current knowledge of threat actor tactics and techniques
  • Practical experience with SIEM, Network Security, and Endpoint Technologies
  • Understanding of security frameworks (ISO27001, PCI, GDPR)
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French (written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical and customer service capabilities
  • Post-secondary education in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Eligibility for Level II Security Clearance
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (24/7/365 schedule)


Great-to-haves

  • Level II Government of Canada Security Clearance
  • SIEM specific certifications: LogRhythm, Splunk are preferred
  • Possess or aiming to obtain industry certifications such as CEH, CompTIA Security +
  • ITIL Foundation certification will be an asset


Advanced knowledge of English is required, because you will, most of the time, interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.), interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.), as part of this position's main responsibilities, given its national scope.
