RBC Capital Markets is a leading global investment banking company dedicated to providing services in banking, finance, and capital markets to corporations, institutional investors, asset managers, and governments globally. We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Director, Lead Java Developer to join our dynamic and innovative team in Montreal. Our team is focused on digital platforms, creating world-class analytics products.

What will you do?

  • Work with a large, global team of developers in the design and build of a next generation valuation and risk infrastructure for the RBC Capital Markets Equity Derivatives business

  • Work closely with both quants and traders in defining requirements, aligning deliverables, and continually refining code for quality

  • Contribute support and knowledge towards a transition to better DevOps tools, practices and metrics

  • Establish strong working relationships across business and functional units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners

  • Collaborate with groups to ensure to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into RBC procedures and processes.

  • Provide support business as L3 and work with production support team.

  • In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide.

What do you need to succceed?

Must-have

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of experience in Java backend development including strong multi-threading experience in Java.

  • Solid hands-on experience in using Linux/ Unix system and scripting language.

  • Experience in the development of scalable and resilient distributed systems.

  • Understanding of database technologies such as MSSQL/ Sybase

  • Experience in banking/financial industry

Nice-to-have

  • Basic Knowledge of distributed messaging platform such as MQ, Solace etc

  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools - Helios, Jenkins, GitHub, Automated Testing tools.

  • Experience in Risk Systems and / or Pricing Model Integration.

  • Experience in working with large amounts of data.
