CDS is Canada's national securities depository, clearing and settlement hub for domestic and cross-border depository-eligible securities. It supports Canada's equity, fixed income and money markets and is accountable for the safe custody and movement of securities, the processing of post-trade transactions, and the collection and distribution of entitlements relating to securities deposited by participants.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Issuer Services Analyst contributes to the daily activities which include the timely management of issuer requests, analyzing supporting documents to issue security identifiers for the Canadian Capital Market and ensuring criteria have been met to allow issuers to have their securities eligible at CDS for trading, clearing and settlement. These activities are in support of IPOs, private placements, corporate actions, post trade processing, as well as cross border transactions. The team also ensures that data integrity is maintained following established ISO & global standards. Your role involves working with multiple systems for processing client requests, input of data, customer support and collaborating with teams to ensure all services are completed on time.

Key Accountabilities

  • Customer Service and interaction with issuers and other intermediaries (Legal Counsel, Underwriters, CMHC Mortgage Issuers, Government Financing authorities, Transfer Agents etc) to guide them through the requirements and verify or confirm details to complete assessment related to their requests

  • Review & analysis of legal documentation supporting new security issues set up, including items such as; security restrictions, tax implications, entitlement/reorganization features, relevant rates, critical dates and any specialized processing requirements.

  • Maintain internal files and ensure timely input of key data in various systems

  • Ensure all client requests and relevant data management activities are processed accurately, within the established guidelines and associated deadlines.

  • Initiative to work independently and communicate with other team members on status updates or requirements of requests

  • Research, analyze and resolve issues and discrepancies identified and escalate critical issues promptly

  • A commitment to recommending improved productivity and efficiency through continual review of processing activities

  • Assist with delivery on ad hoc functions or projects within the team


Must haves

  • 2-3 year's progressive operational/business experience in the Securities Financial Industry with knowledge of the Issuer Community and Reorganization/Corporate Action processing.

  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service, maintain relationships, and work in a team environment

  • Good communication both oral and written

  • A good understanding of the roles of the various entities within the Canadian Capital Markets (ie) Transfer Agents, Paying Agents, Issuers, Bank of Canada, Custodians, Depositories, Numbering Agencies, etc.

  • A good understanding of the different types of securities and associated features.

  • Familiarity with Issuers offering documents and circulars (Prospectus, Offering Circular, Articles of Incorporation, etc.)

  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail

  • Strong ability to balance competing priorities in a time sensitive environment

  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of Excel as well as knowledge of other software (Google, MS Office, Salesforce, etc.)

Nice to haves

  • Canadian Securities Course

  • Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken) is ​preferred
