Reporting to Telesat's Product Cybersecurity Manager, the candidate will help the engineers within the Satellite and Ground systems teams ensure that all designs for the Lightspeed implementation (labs, satellite operations, ground stations, etc.) will meet IA-Pre requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the product development and engineering teams to ensure that Cybersecurity controls are integrated into the product design
  • Conduct regular cybersecurity reviews of products during the development phase
  • Identify vulnerabilities or control deficiencies to address potential threats
  • Develop strategies in collaboration with the Lightspeed product and engineering teams to mitigate identified vulnerabilities
  • Conduct product security training for employees and customers

Education and Experience Required

  • A Diploma or Degree in a relevant area of study with preference for Computer Science/Cybersecurity
  • 2 years of experience in product security, IoT security or cybersecurity architecture related experience
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53 controls is an asset
  • CISSP certification is an asset
  • Ability to achieve Secret clearance

Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to collaborate with product teams integrating security by design principles and approaches
  • Experience applying cybersecurity concepts to protect satellites and their supporting ground systems
  • Knowledge of security review processes related product development cycles
  • Ability to conduct threat analysis to identify potential vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53 controls and CNSSP-12 Policies is an asset

Decision Making and Supervision

  • Make decisions and recommendations within established procedures, based on NIST 800-53, Telesat Policies and other compliance frameworks
  • Coordinate with security team as well as business partners
  • Work under minimum supervision

Working Conditions

  • Generally comfortable office working environment
  • Although limited, the employee must be able to travel to corporate facilities
