The Common Components unit provides shared software engineering services to global Product Management and development teams in the OpenText™ Products group. The Product Information team is an integral part of a software development team that strives for perfection and is committed to success. Technical writers contribute to products by creating sophisticated technical content across Content Management, Business Networks, SMB, Cybersecurity, Digital Experience, Analytics, and Portfolio suites.

Your Impact:

As a technical writer at OpenText, you champion clarity in language and good documentation practices, continually looking to improve the content and the customer experience. You contribute to planning and writing concise and accurate help content to assist customers in adopting and working effectively with OpenText's industry-leading Information Management products. In this role, you will collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Product Design, UX Research, Customer Support, and various cross-functional teams to define documentation goals, prioritize tasks, and contribute to overall customer experience. You will support the Product Information team by working with colleagues to build content strategies, contributing to department innovations, and producing user assistance information and videos.

As a Lead Technical Writer, you will:

  • Author accurate and complete documentation while defining and following processes, guidelines, and operating procedures.
  • Independently lead projects and processes, focusing on individual deliverables and guiding others when needed.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement and be accountable for end-to-end processes, smaller-scale projects, and deliverables.
  • Contribute and manage multiple documentation projects within established deadlines.
  • Draw on your experiences to make informed decisions and consideration of impacts.
  • Strengthen relationships and network with senior stakeholders through collaboration and offer guidance to others within your area of expertise.
  • Possess 5-8 years of previous professional experience. (Include based on regional preference)

  • Authoring tools/Technologies: Arbortext Editor, Flare, MarkDown, FrameMaker, RoboHelp, XML, HTML
  • Process: Agile SAFe
  • Tracking: JIRA, ValueEdge
  • Video/Graphics: SnagIT, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, Visio
  • Cloud-Based Technologies: AWS, GCP, Azure, SaaS and PaaS
  • Source control-CI/CD: Perforce, SVN, GitHub, GitLab; Jenkins
