Position Title: Business Analyst - S&R Operations
Reports To: Manager, Operational Planning, Support and Communications
Department: Savings & Retirement
Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Opportunity: As a Business Analyst at Equitable, you will focus on identifying business needs and solving problems to help the business meet its goals and objectives. This will be achieved by aiding in the development of competitive and profitable products, the implementation of strategies to improve efficiency and productivity, and increasingly, the expansion of technology to improve the customer/advisor experience.

The Business Analyst accomplishes this work by researching, assessing and documenting business needs. You will learn how work is currently being conducted, and through analysis, help determine solutions to issues.

Your work will include IT, and business only projects and everything in between. At this level you will work under the direction or in partnership with an Intermediate or Senior Business Analysts, or as the sole analyst on smaller projects.

What you will be doing:


  • Assess, research, analyze and document sponsor/stakeholder needs
  • Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs
  • Consult and coordinate with stakeholders to design and map business processes and procedures
  • Lead Business Requirement sessions and identify, track and escalate issues for resolution
  • Prepare and consolidate requirements documentation
  • Create or assist others in writing user documentation, instructions and procedures
  • Support User Acceptance Testing in the development and execution of test plans/cases
  • Ability to consider both sides when making decisions (corporate/client) and anticipate potential outcomes or issues
  • Provide production support to the S&R Operations Team
  • Facilitate meetings to ensure they stay focused, motivated and moving forward


What you will bring:

  • 2-3 years' experience in Business Analysis on Small to Medium Projects
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
  • Understanding of Project Management methodologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of analysis and productivity improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of regression and user testing, and building test case scenarios
  • Documentation and presentation skills
  • Experience with data analysis and querying (SQL querying, VBA/macros)
  • Ability to quickly assess a situation and take appropriate action
  • Time management skills to complete projects within the planned time frame
  • Great communication skills with the ability to work well with other team members and negotiate/influence representatives from other areas
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills\
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
