The Team

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank's Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.

The Role

GBME is searching for a Technical Product Manager / Technical Analyst with a strong product and delivery mindset to bridge the gap between user experience and product management. This role will involve liaising between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring that solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently, and with high quality for various projects within GBME.

You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.

KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Experience in capturing business requirements for building a Derivatives Product Trading Application covering Trade Capture, Trade Lifecycle, Integration with Pricing Models, Clearing, Settlement systems.

  • Familiar with Trade Life Cycle for Interest Rates Derivatives product events such as Trade Booking/Management, Rate Reset or Fixing Process, Realized Cashflows.

  • Familiar with end-to-end trade workflows among the Front, Middle and Back Offices systems.

  • Advanced Knowledge of derivative financial instruments such as Interest Rate Swap, Total Return Swaps, Swap Options, Bond Forwards.

  • Familiarity with messaging bus technologies is an asset (e.g. Apache Kafka).

  • Experience with near-real time systems in the capital markets space is an asset.

As part of the role, you'll

  • Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.

  • Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.

  • Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as required.

  • Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.

  • Liaising between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.

  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.

  • Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.

  • Perform ad hoc work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.

  • 3+ years practical experience and product business knowledge in capital markets.

  • Minimum 3 years' working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server, with ability to create and run queries independently.

  • Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).

  • Proficient with Python or other scripting languages, SQL.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and standards, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required.

  • Experience with data flow, sequence diagramming, other software diagramming models is an asset.

  • Excellent working experience of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Preferred Qualifications

  • An understanding of the Bank's application system and software from a business/technical viewpoint is required to assess the impact of development and/or changes to the overall data processing environment).

  • Experience working in application support/product management for a software vendor (ION, Murex, Bloomberg, etc).

  • Delivery management (i.e. prioritization, planning, managing, dealing with disruptions) is a bonus.
