We're looking for a passionate and creative communications professional who will enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to grow and protect Canada's most-loved brand through impactful public relations and brand communications. The successful candidate will have innovative ideas about how to generate positive media coverage for Tim Hortons and earn organic engagement from prominent social media influencers. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the ideal candidate will also be confident in managing issues and effectively mitigating risks.


Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic plans for how to generate media coverage, earned influencer engagement, and build brand love while supporting the marketing calendar and other business priorities.
  • Draft press releases, media pitches, plan PR events, and work with colleagues and the leadership team to align on strategy and execution.
  • Collaborate with, and manage, external PR agency and ensure they are providing strong value, on budget.
  • Actively monitor the news for emerging opportunities for PR, and issues. Track and measure various media and influencer opportunities.
  • Respond quickly to emerging crises, be a leader in assessing the risk level and needed next steps for any issues, and draft reactive media responses.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across teams to stay current on all aspects of the business and to provide communications advice and support as needed.
  • Maintain the brand's corporate LinkedIn account and Newsroom website, keeping both current and engaging.
  • Develop multimedia assets to support communications goals including presentations, graphics and video content often working with internal and external teams.
  • Support other internal communications including developing content as needed for leadership team, assisting with town halls, conventions and other communications needs.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or a related field/experience, or college diploma in Public Relations.
  • 5+ years of experience for a major brand building effective communications plans and media strategies with demonstrable results, including press releases, media events and campaigns, as well as navigating crisis communications.
  • Experience in a high pressure, fast-paced environment where multi-tasking and managing a variety of short- and long-term priorities is routine.
  • Be a team player who is resourceful, service-oriented and has an ownership mindset
  • A track record of building trust and rapport with senior executives and developing communications that resonate in their voice and connect with varied audiences.
