What is the opportunity?
As Sr. Manager Business Intelligence and Information Management, you will lead a team of data analysts and practitioners and collaborate with business professionals to deliver streamlined data solutions to support performance management strategic and tactical priorities, including Sales & Service Effectiveness, Performance Enablement, Capacity Optimization and Performance Reporting.

You will lead the facilitation and gathering of requirements, the development, production implementation, delivery and documentation of those requirements to achieve high quality Performance Management Reporting solutions. This role supports business partners and stakeholders by successfully transforming data into useful, relevant information, and by leveraging sound business knowledge, additional sources of information, and resources to deliver insight to our internal clients. To take end to end responsibility in the development of performance metrics and reporting on multiple reporting platforms (PER/PR/SSE/CMR). Accountable for the timely delivery of production reports and data solutions; as well provides investigative support as required. To play a critical role in the day-to-day activities that align with RBC’s business strategies, outcomes, and objectives to ensure continued focus on enabling leading advice and service for RBC clients that is backed by technological and operational excellence.

You will also play an important role to advance, modernize and improve data process automation capabilities, and in the end-to-end delivery of comprehensive reporting solutions that help optimize business results through delivery of critical insights that enables effective decision making for senior leadership team.

What will you do?

  • Provide leadership and direction for integrating and rationalizing data/metric design to be stored in PMIR data repositories, working with a team of data experts and practitioners that include members of DNA team (QA, DA and TSA), in an agile lab environment and framework.
  • Responsible for the design, development, maintenance, delivery, testing and documentation of performance metrics on various platforms.
  • Design and deliver data solutions to support Incentive Design and Performance Management strategies.
  • Provides ongoing technical consulting service to programs across CB Sales, as subject matter expert on PIMR metrics and related data contents.
  • Build, maintain, enhance, oversee and reinforce governance model and best practices for our data infrastructure across multiple enterprise data repositories; ensure operating model is in compliant with RBC policies.
  • Apply data engineering, architecture, and management standards, adhering to the ‘one version of the truth’ principle within our data ecosystem, while ensuring elimination/reduction of data waste, minimize technical debts and maintaining the integrity and consistency of our data.
  • Develop and document best practices in data governance, including data quality standards, metadata management and data lineage tracking.
  • Participate in decision making related to ongoing prioritization and reprioritization of work to accommodate evolving business priorities and changing needs.
  • Be a thought leader within the P&CB data community, applying a strategic lens to the development of automated insights, advancing technical capabilities and influencing an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Support Transform for Tomorrow initiatives, to expand our use of BI tools, including, setting up the production environment, enhancing existing governance model and guiding principles.
  • Educate, coach and facilitate team’s growth by improving team member’s understanding of internal policy & procedures and introducing new technology.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Expert in SQL and knowledge of relational database concepts and design.
  • SAS in UNIX environment (manipulate and summarize data)
  • Structured programming concepts
  • Extensive Linux/Unix background, shell scripting
  • Excellent scripting skills and experience with automation
  • Ability to independently mine data across all RBC data sources
  • Extensive design, development, and implementation experience in an environment utilizing any enterprise level BI technologies (e.g. Datameer, ThoughtSpot, Tableau, Microsoft Reporting Services, Oracle BI)
  • Expert knowledge in BI tools integration and architecture.
  • Thorough working knowledge of DWE (RBDM, IDM, EDW etc.)
  • Microsoft Suite (documentation, presentations, communication)
  • Understanding of how JCL/SYSIN/Zeke/DataStage are used to support reporting and metric development purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and work collaboratively through impact and influence in a cross-functional environment, as well as independently with initiative taking ownership.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering related field or equivalent related experience.
  • Expert in ETL and big data modeling capabilities, with programming experience in large databases/datasets and using SAS, SQL Server and Teradata SQL Assistant.
  • System administration and change management experience in defining and shaping governance framework related to accesses, production processes, data security and disaster recovery.
  • A solid understanding of change management with exceptional communication skill (verbal and written) who can translate, explain and clarify technical concepts to non-technical audience.

Nice to have:

  • Financial Services Industry knowledge with understanding of Retail Banking.
  • Experience in project delivery and developing performance metrics/reports.
  • Programming/coding skills in Python, Snowflake and Hadoop (HIVE)
  • Unix / Linux system administration experience
  • Working experience in GitHub and (meta)data management applications such as Collibra.
  • Knowledge of ITIL concepts, framework and processes.
