Additional Information

Why join CDI?

  • Variety... with focus! CDI works with a wide variety of people in the cancer centre from patients, caregivers, physicians, nurses, admin staff, hospital leadership, and external partners to develop, pilot, iterate, and scale new services... all with a focus to make cancer care delivery better for patients and providers at UHN.
  • Experimentation and iteration: CDI is a place to play, learn, hone their skills in the wild - we're excited for team members to bring their ideas, new approaches, and to try new things.
  • Thought leadership: We are working at the leading edge of healthcare innovation and are excited to share our knowledge. While publishing and speaking at conferences is not our driving motivation, sharing our work and successes is important to us.
  • Flexibility: You can be flexible with your hours and working location - as long as the work gets done, you are communicating often with team members, it's up to you when and how. That said, hospital staff do work in clinic-hours, so you will need to be flexible as well, as some on-site work is required. Also, we have a beautiful new space downtown Toronto and we meet as a team in-person 3days per week.
  • User-Centred Process: Our process begins with assessing the opportunity to ensure strategic, clinical, and operational alignment, followed by discovery and definition phases that engage stakeholders to identify key challenges and feasible solutions. We then co-create, build, and validate through prototyping, pilot testing, and frontline feedback before preparing for deployment with training and change management strategies. Finally, we implement, monitor, and continuously refine the solution to ensure sustained impact and adaptability within the hospital environment.

Tips:

Please include a cover letter that clearly describes why you are excited to work in cancer care innovation, why your experience matches the requirements above and will help us accomplish our goals at CDI. Also, let us know who you really are, beyond your resume - what do you use for inspiration, how do you learn, what books are you reading, and what podcasts are you listening to?
