The Social Assistance I+IT Solutions (SAIS) Branch provides end-to-end I+IT solution design, development and support to programs delivered by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and helps Ontarians achieve their full potential. The branch is seeking a Business Intelligence Technical Lead to provide proven expertise in the analysis, design, development, testing and performance tuning of business intelligence solutions for mission critical systems, which have strategic significance for achieving the ministry's plans and objectives.

What can I expect to do in this role?
As a Senior Specialist Team Lead, you will:
• Plan and lead advanced and complex development, enhancement, installation and IT maintenance projects using technologies such as Microsoft Power BI, Cognos, and Oracle • Provide strategic direction, solution architecture and approach, and leadership to the business intelligence project team • Provide business Intelligence analysis and systems consulting expertise to clients • Create / maintain data model change control • Devise and maintain systems performance and quality assurance programs • Carry out complex and specialized systems analysis, design, development using technologies such as Cognos and PL/SQL • Facilitate development, coding/programming, promotion, implementation and integration of strategic IT plans • Lead the development and maintenance of program, systems, user and operational documentation • Lead the technical support to end users by identifying and debugging problems • Collaborate with various IT stakeholders
How do I qualify?
Technical Knowledge
You have: • technical/functional knowledge and experience with dimensional data modeling, analysis, development and implementation of web-based applications using technologies such as Microsoft Power BI, Cognos, Informatica, Oracle • hands-on expertise with various data architecture and modeling tools, such as ERWIN, Visio, Informatica, Toad Analysts, etc • advanced knowledge of data warehousing and dimensional modelling concepts • advanced knowledge of SQL, ETL, operating systems, stored procedures and their applicability in Cognos reporting • advanced knowledge of Cognos server administration, security, and configuration • experience in Unix/Linux shell scripting • demonstrated knowledge of theory and principles of systems design and development, systems testing and related methods, techniques, practices and standards • knowledge of a variety of industry standard concepts, languages, testing tools, version control tools, and protocols • demonstrated knowledge of standard problem logging techniques and tools in order to track problems and ensure accuracy and completeness of problem documentation

You have: • the ability to investigate and analyze complex technical issues and problems • the ability to analyze and evaluate key technical, human, financial and business impact of proposed projects • the ability to conduct options analysis, cost/benefit analysis on alternate solutions • the ability to analyze business and systems design requirements and provide technical solutions
Leadership and Coordination Skills
You have: • the ability to lead/coordinate investigations and analyze specialized information technology requirements • the ability to provide technical leadership to the team in designing, developing and delivering IT solutions • the ability to lead committees and client dialogues to negotiate agreements on technological solutions • knowledge of project management methodologies in order to plan/organize and implement projects in a multi-project environment
Communication and Collaboration Skills
You have: • excellent oral and written communication skills to interview client teams to determine requirements and change requests • the ability to prepare business case, prepare and present written reports on findings and alternate solutions, including complex technical system details • the ability to write technical documents and design documents • the ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical business and ministry personnel • interpersonal skills to work effectively and collaboratively with team members, client representatives and vendor partners
