Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team!

What You Will Do

  • Reporting to the Head of Vehicle Maintenance, you will be responsible for oversight of project management maturity, including the development and implementation of audit and assurance review action plans.
  • You will be responsible for Managing 4 to 6 project management teams consisting of Project and Program Managers with integrated TTC and consultant project teams, as well as any assigned projects. These teams will be responsible for the coordination, implementation and management of multi-year, multi-discipline capital projects, programs and portfolios from inception, planning, design, procurement and production through safety certification, commissioning, and to project close-out. Projects may include transit vehicle and associated infrastructure overhauls, special projects, and new procurements.
  • You will assist the Head of Vehicle Maintenance in the development of appropriate budget for the Streetcar Maintenance Department.
  • You will liaise with senior TTC staff, elected officials and senior governmental and third-party staff to ensure their requirements are addressed.
  • You will oversee implementation of audit and assurance review action plans.
  • You will create, maintain and constantly attempt to improve project development and implementation processes. Additionally, implement procedures to ensure successful execution of projects and programs.
  • You will direct and manage assigned Project Managers in the development of capital budget and delivery of capital projects to meet the TTC's requirements.
  • You will ensure timely reporting of financial and performance results, including any significant cost, security, safety, human resources or project management issues to the Department Head, Project Sponsors, or other Senior Managers as appropriate.
  • You will ensure accountability at project management levels, development of technical and supervisory competence and applicable succession planning through internal development and promotion, or external hiring as required.
  • You will manage various project business activities within budget allocations and in the best interest of the TTC.
  • You will plan, direct, manage, and monitor the work of and delegating responsibility for the Project Management Section in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • You will ensure assigned projects are managed and built to the TTC's design standards and meet the requirements of the client group by monitoring and directing, as necessary, the design review, construction and certification processes.
  • You will also manage the approval process for changes in contract specifications and conditions.

What Qualifications Do You Bring

  • Your educational background will consist of a University Degree in a relevant discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent, combined with extensive progressive experience in the areas of general project management and engineering management of transit vehicles and/or large multi-discipline projects.
  • A Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an asset.
  • You must possess a Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or be eligible to achieve PMP certification.
  • Additionally, Certification as a Professional Engineer or a similar professional designation in the Province of Ontario is also an asset.
  • Your application will reveal comprehensive knowledge of project management and engineering principles and practices.
  • Your application will reveal an understanding of vehicle asset management planning and principles, engineering and configuration change management, quality assurance and control standards, life cycle management, costing, and knowledge of data collection, validation, analysis and uses.
  • Your application must reveal demonstrated experience in formulating project goals and objectives, and associated budgets both at high level and in detail.
  • You must possess sound judgement; highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You must have demonstrated ability to manage diverse areas of responsibility with due regard for quality, quantity, effectiveness and deadlines.
  • You must have the ability to effectively motivate staff (including consultants) to ensure that established project goals and objectives are achieved.
  • You must be capable of resolving complex problems effectively, providing accurate and timely results.
  • Your application must reveal working knowledge of computers, and computer-based techniques and applications related to the work is essential.
