What You Will Do

The Senior Project Manager is a leader in the project management group. They are responsible for managing transformational programs that are critical, large scale, complex with high visibility and impact. They are assigned projects with high risk profiles. The incumbent will be responsible for partnering with the business sponsor and ITS leadership to manage all phases of the project lifecycle to ensure that desired objectives and benefits are realized. The incumbent is involved in all phases of the project life cycle from inception to deployment and post-deployment activities including audit and compliance. They will provide senior level expertise for programs and projects with multiple, cross departmental stakeholders; They will provide effective risk management based on leading industry practice; The incumbent will support the procurement process in accordance to the procurement by-laws; support the financial management process in accordance to the financial by-laws with direction and support of management; demonstrate value by delivering ITS and enterprise projects according to standards set out by ITS and PfMO; The incumbent may indirectly supervise a member of the project management team including Project Managers and/or Project Coordinators. The incumbent may also act on behalf of the Director - Project Management.


You will support the ITS team, clients and business partners in the case development and rationalization for major programs and initiatives; ensure user adoption, business readiness and change management practices that lead to success; lead the continuous improvement of ITS services through the contribution, collection and incorporation of solutions/lessons learned into their project management practice; monitor PM area goals and objectives and align program/project deliverables with them.


You will manage all phases of projects from inception to post-implementation and any rationalization; conduct extensive benefit realization processes working in partnership with business champions; develop accurate and high quality detailed project plans covering all phases of the IT Services Project Management Life Cycle including request, initiation, planning, execution and closure; perform all required program and project budgeting tasks including preparation of estimates, support the scheduled budget process, support ad-hoc budget request and provide accurate and timely financial control and reporting; vendor relationship management including coordination with M&P, ITS groups, Finance and senior leadership.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related discipline combined with several years of progressive and successful project management experience, or equivalent combination of both.
  • Experience managing large Asset Management programs for various line of business
  • Expert at risk management, including identification, controlling and monitoring risks.
  • Experienced with cross-functional projects with a mixture of platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure, security, risk, asset, financial and business capability projects.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of project management using a mixture of methodologies including but not limited to Agile, Waterfall, SAP Activate and hybrid.
  • Excellent change management skills and can build and implement critical programs to increase awareness and adoption of projects deliverables.
  • Requires comprehensive knowledge of all facets related to the development and implementation of transformational projects that include technology, business enablement, customer service and financial control.
  • Has expertise in project management, systems development methodology and quality assurance principles and practices; effectively conduct gating exercises for all types of projects.
  • Must understand capital vs operating processes and the principles around managing these interdependent but separate functions.
  • Must be familiar with a wide range of information technology platforms and related technical issues.
  • Must be able to prepare, support, monitor multiple complex project budgets that span one or more orders and departments.
  • Has extensive experience conducting cost/benefit assessments for complex and interdependent projects.
  • Requires knowledge of and experience in business process re-engineering, data and process modelling and the preparation of technical specifications for RFP documents.
  • Must possess highly developed analytical, organizational, strategic planning and interpersonal skills; relationship management, leadership, excellent business judgement and ability to effectively demonstrate technology based solutions to a variety of audiences; effective presentation, verbal and written communication skills. Executive level communication is required.
  • Requires considerable on-going education and PM certification.
  • The incumbent must be conversant with project control frameworks such as COBIT and/or ITIL.
