What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Data Analytics will play a critical role in supporting the Surveillance and Compliance teams by leveraging data analytics to enhance our current compliance programs. This will include enhancing surveillance, monitoring and testing programs, working on large data sets for investigations. The incumbent will develop data-driven insights, optimize surveillance models, and improve the effectiveness of compliance controls. This role requires collaboration with key stakeholders to identify risks, enhance detection capabilities and ensure regulatory adherence through robust data analysis.

What will you do?

  • Need to be a proactive analyst with a strong analytical mindset and the ability to translate data insights into actionable compliance strategies.
  • The Senior Manager, Data Analytics will be responsible for completing advanced data analytics supporting the requirements for Compliance Canada, including Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Personal Banking & Commercial Banking, and Business Management Compliance.
  • Conducting data analysis on reviews/alerts for trading activities for Capital Markets, Wealth Management, for market conduct and business conduct covering Equities, Fixed Income, Currencies, Listed Derivatives, Commodities and OTC (Over the Counter) products.
  • Develop and implement a Compliance Canada Data Strategy Roadmap that addresses the automation or reporting needs from the queue of high priority data projects.
  • Facilitate analysis where large datasets are required to conduct investigations.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to compliance teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis to support investigations, regulatory inquiries, and trigger events.
  • Support the development and refinement of surveillance models to detect potential misconduct, market abuse, or policy violations.
  • Assist in designing and enhancing data-driven compliance monitoring and testing programs.
  • Automate data collection and reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • ​Stay informed on regulatory changes and industry best practices related to compliance programs.
  • Endure data analytics processes align with governance, risk, and compliance frameworks.
  • Assist in regulatory reporting and responses providing data-driven evidence and insights.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, Finance, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data analytics, programming, AI and machine learning.
  • Technical writing skills and requirements management
  • Expertise in Data Science, Extensive knowledge in statistical learning & Visualization.
  • Professional Data Science Accreditation would represent a significant asset in this role.
  • Detail and results-oriented mindset with a focus on insights and analytics reporting.
  • High proficiency with technology (Python, SQL, R, Tableau, PowerBI, databases, etc.)
  • Experience with large structured and unstructured data sets
  • Strong data interpretation, pattern identification, and data results communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a challenging environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiations skills and ability to foster/build effective partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to gather requirements from internal stakeholders to build out solutions.
