As a Sr. Developer/Ops, you will integrate advanced technologies to enhance learning and immersive elements. You will leverage specialized technical skills to identify and implement modern digital technologies and trends, driving innovative solutions that enhance audience/visitor engagement, STEM learning outcomes, and streamline operations.

About the job

As a Sr. Developer/Ops, you will:

  • lead the development, maintenance and daily operations of the cloud-hosted website, ensuring high availability, uptime and optimal performance
  • manage cloud infrastructure ensuring cost-effective scalability, security and reliability and compliance with policy, standards, procedures and guidelines
  • lead the iterative deployment of new interactive modules and iterative enhancements based on analytics and feedback
  • design and implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines, optimizing architectures, tools and solutions
  • provide technical expertise and guidance for the development, implementation and optimization of the interactive website, digital interactive in-person experiences, and business solutions to ensure high performance and scalability
  • provide technical leadership on scaling, performance and optimization of cloud-based and data centre solutions across various platforms
  • research, evaluate and conduct performance testing of potential and acquired products to ensure technical suitability
  • collaborate with senior management, colleagues, and external stakeholders to deliver end-to-end products and features from conception to delivery

What you bring to the team

Technical knowledge and skills

  • extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure including containerization like Docker, Kubernetes, serverless architectures, and Infrastructure-as-Code like Terraform, CloudFormation
  • experience with CMS platforms that support interactive content, multimedia integration, and user data management, ensuring seamless content updates and modular feature expansions
  • proficiency in designing and implementing APIs, ensuring efficient data exchange between front-end, back-end, and third-party services while maintaining scalability and security
  • expertise in setting up and managing automated CI/CD pipelines using tools using as Jenkins and Gitlab, deployment workflows, and cloud monitoring tools to support efficient development cycles and ensure system reliability
  • expertise in front-end such as React, Vue.js, or Angular and back-end such as Node.js, Python, or .NET technologies, ensuring seamless integration of user-facing and server-side components
  • strong problem-solving and communication skills to mentor the internal team, drive agile development processes, and align technical strategies with business objectives

Problem solving & reasoning skills

  • ability to diagnose and resolve platform issues related to performance, security and functionality
  • expertise in identifying root causes of product failure or slowdowns, whether in front-end, back-end or cloud infrastructure
  • identify and mitigate risks by conducting risk assessments and implementing contingency plans, including preventative measures, to address potential issues before they impact end users
  • ability to prioritize feature updates, infrastructure improvements, and operational tasks based on impact and urgency
  • continuously monitoring for emerging risks and recommending proactive adjustments

Communication & interpersonal skills

  • communication, consultation and facilitation skills to lead team discussions, develop strategic technical solutions, and clearly document processes, information, application requirements to support business objectives
  • communicate with structure and clarity to elicit cooperation from within the digital team and cross-functional teams and stakeholders, effectively managing expectations and driving product/project alignment
  • prepare and present technical documents, reports, recommendations, and manage issues and status meetings, including user testing documentation to ensure clear communication of project progress and outcomes
