Looking for a new and exciting opportunity? We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer/Senior Designer, Communications to join our team!

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Design & Coordination, you will be responsible for performing complex engineering duties and managing the activities and projects associated with the design, operation, and/or maintenance of equipment and/or systems related to assigned work (e.g., electrical, mechanical signals, or communications, etc.). You will provide overall engineering expertise, support and guidance to maintenance staff on a 24-hour basis.

Other responsibilities of your role will include:

  • Providing Project Management support.
  • Providing technical and engineering support and expertise to appropriate parties/staff as required.
  • Providing capital and operating design and engineering support.
  • Supervising operations of the Section by planning, directing and coordinating activities of staff.
  • Providing back up support to the department/section as required.
  • Preparing documents, presentations, and reports for use by the department/section, and distributing to the appropriate parties in accordance with established standards.
  • Providing a coordination role for projects managed by the department/section.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Your education will consist of the completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e. Electrical/Electronic Engineering) or the equivalent, combined with extensive directly related work experience.
  • Registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) as a Professional Engineer, or in progress with the ability to obtain P.Eng license within two (2) years.
  • You will have sound knowledge of electrical engineering and design principles, methods and practices.
  • You will also have strong knowledge of project management concepts and practices and have the ability to carry out and/or coordinate projects and studies.
  • Your application will demonstrate strong knowledge of analog and digital CCTV systems, various types of access control and alarm systems, electronic testing equipment, computers, real-time networks and vital on-line applications and other associated equipment utilized, maintained and rehabilitated by the Communications Engineering section.
  • You will have sound judgement, well-developed analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, verbal communication and technical report writing skills.
  • As a Senior Design Engineer, you will also have the ability to plan, coordinate and direct activities of personnel assisting in communications design work, and provide direction to consultants and contractors engaged in associated activities.
  • You will have or must develop knowledge of Operations policies and procedures applicable to the work performed.
  • In this role, you must attend and successfully complete the Training Department's program for Subway/SRT Rule Book certification.
