Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Data Engineering Developer to join our team building enterprise datasets and data products. You will play a crucial role in supporting Bell's transition into a data-driven company by designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure data solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies and a collaborative approach to working with various teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement highly scalable and robust data pipelines using on-premises and cloud-native technologies (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes for ingesting, transforming, and loading data from various sources (on-premises and cloud-based).
  • Build and optimize data models for efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, models, and processes.
  • Implement data governance and security best practices to ensure data quality and compliance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
  • Identify and resolve technical debt and performance bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of data engineering best practices within the team.
  • Lead and manage projects with minimal guidance, determining the impact on existing data structures.
  • Participate in short-term and long-term project planning with key stakeholders.

Critical Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on hybrid cloud environments.
  • Proven experience with ETL and ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) pipeline development and optimization.
  • Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Dataflow, Dataproc, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Data Catalog.
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
  • Experience with on-premises Hadoop environments (e.g., HDFS, Hive, Spark) and migrating data to the cloud.
  • Advanced skills in transforming raw data into curated actionable data elements that support data consuming teams and applications.
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling techniques and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Certifications related to cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure) or data engineering.
  • Experience with data virtualization technologies.
  • Experience in telecom industry.
