Plans, directs, coordinates and oversees the work of others in the Architectural Design Section; ensures the technical accuracy/adequacy, safety, constructability, maintainability, cost effectiveness and timely completion of designs and prepares design documents for new construction and renovation of various transit related facilities. Carries out complex architectural design projects. Coordinates the execution of design assignments through assigning, monitoring and reviewing the work of the team. Provides expertise and guidance regarding architectural design matters and related technical problems to ensure accuracy, adequacy, safety, constructability, maintainability, and timely completion of architectural design documents. Reviews development proposals and site plans adjacent to or over transit facilities and connections to the transit system/stations; reviewing and commenting on projects/drawings. Evaluates technical proposals submitted with tenders. Provides construction support, review shop drawings, respond to Request for Information (RFI) and conducts field and post construction investigations, studies and analyses. Takes responsibility for the architectural design and technical content of documents by applying architectural seal and signature to contract documentation, as required by code. Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment and helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies. Participates in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

• A university degree in Architecture, or the equivalent, and experience working in progressively responsible positions as a registered Architect, including experience in transit facility design
• A License as an Architect in good standing with the Ontario Association of Architects (with eligibility for a professional seal) is required.
• Thorough knowledge of architectural principles, methods and practices.
• In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Building Code combined with knowledge of provincial and municipal planning, zoning and sustainability requirements.
• Strong working knowledge of CADD and BIM platforms, as well as knowledge of computers and software relevant to the work (e.g. Excel, Word, CorelDraw).
