We are recruiting for an experienced Quality Assurance Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team in Downtown Toronto Corporate Head Office. This is an on-site position

Job Overview:

The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data. This individual will work with large data sets to clean and analyze data, troubleshoot data issues, and develop and implement data quality processes. Work with stakeholders to create data quality metrics, evaluate data quality issues, and provide solutions to improve data quality.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design and execute test plans to validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Perform source-to-target data validation during ETL processes to ensure data integrity.
  • Analyze and profile datasets to identify anomalies, trends, or inconsistencies.
  • Identify and investigate discrepancies in data during testing phases and pinpoint specific records to isolate data gaps.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for data discrepancies and coordinate resolution with stakeholders.
  • Develop scripts and workflows for data validation and quality checks.
  • Continuously improve QA processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Partner with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to define and implement data quality rules.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for resolving data quality issues.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for QA processes, test cases, and data validation workflows.
  • Generate and share data quality reports and dashboards with stakeholders.
  • Conduct performance testing to identify bottlenecks in Power BI reports and datasets.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and define data validation criteria.
  • Maintain detailed QA documentation and reports to track test execution and results.

Education, Credentials, Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computing and financial management, statistics, actuarial science, or a similar program.
  • Minimum 8 years of overall work experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Data QA, Data Analysis, and Reporting.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or Data Quality Certification from the Data Management Association (DAMA) or other similar organizations would be considered a valuable asset.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write validation queries.
  • Familiarity with DAX and its role in creating calculated metrics for reports.
  • Experience in data gap analysis and debugging data-related issues.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Strong understanding of data quality dimensions (accuracy, consistency, completeness, timeliness).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including star schemas and fact/dimension tables.
  • Knowledge of data integration pipelines.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex data issues.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams to drive data quality initiatives.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau for data validation and report testing.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
