As a senior team member within the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), the Project Director will provide effective leadership to key priorities for Ontario Health. Reporting to the Director, EPMO the Project Director will advance the implementation of business-critical initiatives and work collaboratively with colleagues in OH to strengthen our culture of project management excellence. This two-fold responsibility will require skills of both focused management and delivering of large, complex and multi-streamed projects and using that knowledge to advise on the design of EPMO functions, all with the aim of supporting OH strategic priorities and building a high-preforming organization.
Here is what you will be doing:
Leadership
Lead the planning, design, implementation and smooth operationalization of enterprise-wide projects that are aimed at advancing OH's goals and strategic priorities.
Support the Director in designing new organizational project management processes and evolve the maturity of the Enterprise PMO operational model
Working with colleagues in Strategy and Corporate Performance and Reporting, support the analysis to ensure new initiatives and major projects are aligned with strategic priorities, the ABP deliverables and OH external commitments
Lead the development of standardized project management tools and methodologies (inc. project lifecycle management and agile methodology) and the supporting project governance processes.
Influence and mentor other project management team members in shaping and developing project documentation and analysis.
Ensure the quality and integrity of project delivery is upheld and team members are supported in executing on their deliverables.
Develop and manage the execution of multi-streamed workplans including the appropriate sequencing of activities and interdependencies between teams across the organization or with external partners
Apply implementation controls that manage trade-offs and keep deliverables and milestones on track and on time, including proactive mitigation of project risks
Leading multiple projects and assignments with ability to adapting in response to changes in program priorities and timelines
Apply critical thinking and relationship management skills to devise multi-pronged mitigation plans that allow for successful completion of project objectives
Stakeholder Engagement
Establish governance processes that facilitate collaboration between internal leads and experts and build a cross-team sense of responsibility for successful achievement of project objectives
Prepare concise materials (presentation, discussion documents, briefing notes, etc) that facilitate dialog and support the development of action-oriented plans and allow participants to feel prepared to provide thoughtful feedback
Develop close working relationships with senior Ontario Health leaders to advance delivery of the project and ensure that our team's activities are contributing to and enabling the successful realization of their objectives
Management and Communication
Maintain rigor and ensure completion of comprehensive project control documentation throughout the project life cycle
Establish robust reporting and communication processes that allow for sufficient and appropriate engagement with project sponsors and senior leadership
Ensure high quality project documentation, including charters, business cases, detailed project plans and other related project management artifacts that clearly articulate the objectives, scope and targeted outcomes for the project
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
A Masters Level Degree is required, preferably in Business, Health, Administration, or another relevant discipline.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or certification in process is required.
A minimum of eight (8) years' experience in project management or a strategy/planning role
Work experience in health care is a strong asset.
Knowledge and Skills
Proven experience leading large complex projects and initiatives
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a hands-on manner, adjusting to issues as needed in a dynamic work environment
Strong knowledge and proven application of project management methodologies
Superior verbal and written communication skills to present complex concepts clearly and effectively for senior leaders.
Proven experience creating high quality, clear and succinct products (e.g., presentations, reports, briefing notes, workplans) for multiple internal and external audiences.
Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation of group consensus and decision making.
Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams that include internal employees as well as external partners and stakeholders.
Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility, and respect.
Proven ability to influence project resources/teams (typically through a matrixed model)
Strong MS Office proficiency and experience building Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint documents.
