Are you looking for a challenge in planning and coordinating different departments to complete surface and subway track work. We are looking for an excellent communicator that can speak to all levels of management and executives.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the incumbent is responsible for planning and coordinating subway and surface closure/diversions that will impact transit services with both internal and external stakeholders during the construction phases associated with the Provincial Subway Program Expansion Projects, which include the Yonge North Extension (YNSE), Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE), and the Ontario Line (OL). This position will also coordinate GO expansion works in conjunction with TTC's state-of-good-repair programs and capital projects. The role will also ensure Subway and Streetcar infrastructure resources and requirements are met to accommodate the construction phases of these programs, , ensuring they are implemented and maintained in accordance with TTC's goals and objectives in an efficient and cost effective manner.

This also involves:

  • Leads, manages and coordinates a variety of projects and contracts for the Group.
  • Provides project budget and schedule management support.
  • Manage consultants, suppliers, and in-house design assignments.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Your education includes a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (Business Administration or Engineering) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent;
  • Your application demonstrates a knowledge of engineering designs/principles along with knowledge of construction related practices, codes, standards and regulations and project management concepts involving several fields;
  • You also have knowledge of procurement/contracting principles, the development of contract documents, and the tender evaluation/award process;
  • You have the ability to read and interpret technical drawing and specifications;
  • Good understanding of technical matters related to engineered products/equipment, construction services and engineering/construction issues including sources for material supplies and services;
  • Knowledge of property law, union and trade agreements and construction contracts;
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and practices involving several technical fields;
  • Knowledge of cost control and scheduling techniques;
  • Knowledge of public transit operations;
  • Sound judgement; well-developed analytical, administrative and leadership skills; excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to develop and implement procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of section/department operations;
  • Proficiency in the use of computer based scheduling systems and other computerized applications related to the work (e.g. STARs, Maximo, Excel, etc.);
  • Ability to be tactful, diplomatic and possess a high degree of interpersonal skills to communicate and deal with people effectively in difficult and stressful situations;
  • Able to direct and motivate and supervise TTC personnel and contract employees to achieve project completion.
