ABOUT THE ROLE:
Plusgrade is looking for a Manager to join our PMO.
The Manager will provide strategic oversight of a collection of projects in the PMO ecosystem including direct leadership and coaching responsibilities of a group of project managers. The successful candidate enjoys being a people leader just as much as managing brand new initiatives from start to finish.
Management activities include driving momentum for your projects and your team's projects, communicating status to senior leaders across the organization and ensuring alignment with the overall organization and partners' vision.
The successful candidate has experience leading multiple large, complex projects concurrently and is a proven people leader who takes pride in the success of their team. You are solutions-driven with expertise in managing technology projects through cross-functional collaboration, building lasting partnerships, setting team goals and executing against strategy. You are passionate about driving positive change and growing the PMO to its next phase of growth. This role will report to the Director of the PMO.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- The full end-to-end ownership of 3-5 concurring projects of varying complexity and strategic importance.
- Bringing an unrivaled passion to the project management office - striving to exceed expectations in every interaction both internally and externally.
- The direct management of 3-9 Project Managers, overseeing their production, growth and areas of responsibility.
- Demonstrating continuous improvement and operational excellence with clearly defined and up-to-date metrics, that roll up to company goals and objectives.
- Collaborating closely with multiple internal stakeholders across platforms on a technical and non-technical basis to deliver high-value products to our partners.
- Holding self and the project teams accountable for established PMO standards.
- Coaching and mentoring project managers on project management best practices including identifying risks, looking for timing efficiencies and ways to give our partners the best experience
- Demonstrating expertise in both the art and science of project management across several areas including: governance, scope, risk, quality, issue management, communication and stakeholder management.
- Provide guidance on issue resolution and decision-making to project teams.
- Producing several project management related business analysis including status reports, issue and risk logs, meeting agendas and meeting minutes.
- Demonstrating excellent decision-making skills around scope, timelines, and resources.
- Actively participating in resource planning to ensure high quality project work is taking place in an efficient manner.
- Facilitate prioritization and resource allocation across projects.
- Ensure timely reporting on project performance, risks, and benefits realization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- 5+ years of experience within software implementation project management experience preferably in the related travel technology industry.
- 4+ years of client facing experience in a technical environment.
- Proven cross-platform leadership skills with the ability to execute well under pressure.
- Experience working in a complex, multi-project/program/portfolio environment with a number of clients is critical in order to be successful in this role.
- Possess client management skills with a passion for building effective customer relationships and exceeding partner expectations.
- Comfortable communicating at all levels of the organization including business executives and technical experts.
- Proven experience analyzing raw data, identifying trends and building a cohesive story is an asset.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to align projects with business objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exposure to a variety of Project Management methodologies.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation is an asset.
- Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and overseas as needed to meet with partners.
- Willingness to join late night or early morning partner meetings as needed.
- Excellent communication and English language skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to thrive in a changing environment and adapt as project requirements change.
