Who we are

At illumin, we are transforming the advertising landscape. Our platform offers an integrated space for journey planning, execution, and reporting. It empowers marketers to connect with their audiences in powerful ways through real-time data and easy-to-use visual tools. By seamlessly combining media planning and buying in an intuitive interface, marketers can take complete control of their campaigns, meeting customers wherever they are in the buying journey and maximizing the impact of their ad spend through personalized insights for smarter decision-making.

We are at a pivotal moment, evolving into a product-led company with a team of over 100 skilled professionals and new leadership guiding our path forward. By harnessing the power of data, advancing our AI capabilities, and deeply investing in our people, we are preparing for a future that will redefine what’s possible in journey advertising.

Our work is guided by two beliefs: that the ability to execute is paramount to success and that we are only as good as our people. As we grow and transform, we are looking for team members (illumineers) who share our bias for speed, delivery over perfection, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Joining us now is a chance to be part of our transformation.

Who we need

We are seeking a Manager of Learning and Development, reporting to the VP of Human Resources, to establish and lead our new Learning and Development function. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing various online, in-person, real-time, and self-paced learning programs to support global skills development and growth. You will collaborate with teams across the organization and within Human Resources to create and deliver impactful, learner-focused development opportunities that drive meaningful results.

This is a hybrid opportunity, working Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays on-site in our downtown Toronto office. Our headquarters are located within minutes of St. Andrew and Union subway stations.

What’s in it for you

Ownership. You are excited to be part of a rare opportunity to create and execute a new learning and development strategy - and function - at a scaling tech product company investing in elevating the skills and growth of its people. You want the autonomy to introduce best practices from day one, employing the latest methodologies to design and deploy engaging learning opportunities that meet the needs of illumineers. You will be supported on your mission, encouraged to innovate, and given access to subject matter experts across teams to build your courses.

Impact. As a critical element of illumin's business strategy, investing in learning pathways for individual contributors, managers, and leaders is essential. You will take ownership of our Learning and Development priorities, driving overall organizational performance by improving sales consistency through targeted skills training, enhancing employee engagement with professional development opportunities, and reducing attrition by fostering a culture of growth and learning.

Professional development. You want to grow - your skills, your influence, your career. We push the limits to improve and to reach our full potential, individually and as a company. We are committed to building the strengths of our team. You will be supported by your manager and have access to one-on-one coaching with our Chief Empowerment Officer's team. You will be supported in your career goals, whether you want to move into people management and build a team or focus on a different HR or business area.

How you will make an impact:

  • Lead. You will design and deploy diverse learning programs to enable onboarding and personal development for illumin employees. You will work with various subject matter experts and senior leaders across multiple departments to deliver one consistent experience. You will deploy training through our talent management system, UKG, and create a curated curriculum, structure, participation, and completion report.
  • Evolve. You will create an end-to-end learning experience to support our value proposition. You will deliver training that spans interactive digital methods, micro-learning, self-paced learning, job aids, and in-person, in-house, or facilitator-led sessions.
  • Contribute to our organizational transformation. You will shape our learning and development function to align with changes in our company strategy. You will collaborate with HR, executive leaders, and subject matter experts to formulate a customized approach that fulfills our learning and development strategic goals.
  • Champion. You will collaborate and coordinate with partners to determine training needs and appropriate delivery methods. You will drive accessibility in learning design and facilitation. You will build and maintain templates, standards, and technical specifications that drive adoption of standard processes throughout the organization.
  • Introduce best practices. You will facilitate an agile test-and-learn environment with a willingness to challenge the status quo, try, fail fast, and iterate. You will stay updated with evolving methodologies and emerging industry trends in learning and development to support innovative learning experience design.

What you bring:

  • The expertise. You have end-to-end training development experience, with expertise in designing and delivering blended learning for Sales and Technology organizations of varying sizes. You have a strong understanding of adult learning principles and have built a learning and development function, strategy, and tools from scratch. You have proven success implementing deliverables from start to finish. You are passionate about nurturing a positive, diverse, and inclusive experience for your audience and can adapt your delivery style to meet their needs. Ideally, you have a certificate in adult education or instructional design.
  • The consulting approach. You are a relationship builder with exceptional communication skills. You can dig in to understand learning gaps and needs. You can gain trust, influence decisions, implement processes, and overcome issues, challenging collaborators to ensure outstanding results. You are focused on helping managers build high-performing teams. You can synthesize complex concepts to create simplified learning programs.
  • The analytical skills. You have strong evidence-based decision-making abilities, with the ability to research, draw insights from data, and leverage available experts and existing resources. You have excellent judgment and can make thoughtful decisions as a creative problem solver.
  • The technical skills. You are highly proficient with MS Office Suite, content creation and presentation software, learning authoring tools and learning management systems. Bilingualism is an asset but not required.
  • The drive. You are ready to hit the ground running and comfortable with ambiguity. You are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done and can adapt quickly to changing priorities. You can work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
