The Team

You will be joining a diverse and engaged team of developers, project leads and product specialists. Global Business Banking Risk Technology enables our business partners to fulfill critical regulatory functions in the bank with a direct impact to the bank's balance sheet and to the bank's new strategic priorities. We provide project, change, development and production support services for complex enterprise risk IT systems.

The Role

We are searching for a Lead Product Specialist with expert business banking credit risk knowledge and experience. The role will interface with all levels of business systems to understand current business and technical processes to identify what changes are required to achieve desired outcomes. Product Specialists focus on managing a technology product throughout its lifecycle to ensure business value is documented, developed, tested and delivered to production.

About the Job

  • Understands the business from several points of view and aligns IT&S systems and processes to address critical information and automation requirements.
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of specific business line solutions for projects, supporting highly complex business applications with complex integration needs across multiple technology disciplines.
  • Formulates and defines information systems scope, and objectives based on a thorough understanding of the requirements of the specific business line.
  • Participates in all phases of the IT System Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Acts as a liaison between developers and business team members. Provides timely project status updates to the Project Manager; identifying/reporting project risks as early as possible and proactively mitigating project risks as identified. Provides expert knowledge of cross-functional and business processes. Requires little management direction and handles extremely complex problems.
  • Collaborates with the business lead and multiple technology groups and vendors to ensure that the application, integrations, infrastructure and security architectures are designed to meet evolving business requirements, meet standards for reliability, scalability, performance and availability and align with Scotia IT&S Technology roadmap.
  • Identifies root cause of production behaviour by analyzing data and application code.

Technical Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in technical system analysis within a software development team.
  • 5+ years of experience as lead business systems analyst on data projects.
  • Experience working in Agile environment.
  • Highly proficient with SQL.
  • Experience with IBM DataStage an asset.
  • Experience with building data pipelines in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) an asset.
  • Experience in banking and financial services would be an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or relevant experience.

Soft Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead team members with differing opinions and provide guidance to varying levels of experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Work as a contributing member of a team.
