What is the opportunity?

The role is best suited for a product owner with prior experience of bringing data science products from problem statement to production. This is an opportunity to get in on the "ground-level" of developing a new product function focused on advanced applied analytics. You will be responsible for the full product lifecycle: from vision, development, deployment, change management, communication, stakeholder management and to future enhancements. You will also own the product backlog and engages all necessary stakeholders to deliver initiatives that have clear business value.

What will you do?

  • Manage a new data science product portfolio to deliver measurable business value through new solutions.
  • Engage necessary teams into a well-orchestrated cadence of delivery, monitor accuracy and scope, be the champion of the initiative.
  • Provide senior management with visibility into project progress, while supporting effective decision-making, approvals, and direction.
  • Accountable to ensure products are developed on time, within budget, and meet business expectations.
  • Owns the responsibility for building the right product and to be the voice of the customer (e.g. external customer, internal operations user, etc.) to the team.
  • Validates the underlying value assumptions (why should this initiative be executed, what problems does it solve, should these problems be solved).
  • Own sprint planning, agile delivery aspects and the feature backlog.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Excellent communication: closely collaborate across the team on higher complexity initiatives in support of the design, development and delivery of their product.
  • Success in this role is measured in terms of maximizing ROI, cost reduction for the Enterprise, timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Developing product recommendations based on customer feedback, User experience (UX) interpretation of customer feedback, commercial/technical/legal assessments, and leveraging their own domain of experience.
  • Supporting the creation of the strategy/roadmap that contributes to the product's revenue and profitability targets
  • Identifying product opportunities and challenges and recommending expanding product offering to ensure competitive positioning

Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree coupled with 1-3 years of experience in teams that delivered value through statistical, data science methods.
  • Fluency with JIRA, Confluence and Microsoft Office suite (specifically, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • This role is responsible for developing metrics and their rationale for measuring success of the solution (e.g. ROI), as well as the reporting methodology to track value realization
  • Evaluating business value achieved versus plan for the product and communicating outcomes to management.

Nice-to-have:

  • An inquisitive mind and a can-do attitude.
  • Defining and maintaining the non-functional Requirements (NFRs) in collaboration with Domain Experts, to help assure that the solution meets relevant standards and other system quality requirements.
  • Identifying, executing, or enabling implementation of agile change management activities related to the Initiative.
