About the Position

We are seeking an IT Project Manager to join our Toronto office as part of the Information Technology Project Management Office on a 1-year contract. Reporting to the IT Program Manager, this role will lead high-impact technology projects that align with our firm's goals, including backend infrastructure, business application rollouts, and IT upgrades. The IT Project Manager will also perform business analysis functions as needed, such as requirements elicitation, process analysis, and development of use cases and test plans. This position will work primarily remotely, with the flexibility to come into the office on an as-needed basis.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the full project lifecycle, from initiation to closure
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create and manage project plans
  • Assess project risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with and manage consultants and/or vendor project managers or coordinators
  • Conduct project scoping and gather business and technical requirements
  • Document and analyze business processes; recommend improvements
  • Develop use cases, test plans and project documentation
  • Facilitate project steering committee meetings and prepare decision slides
  • Arrange and facilitate project meetings and prepare status reports
  • Work closely with the Training and Change Management teams to develop and execute training programs, as part of the rollout
  • Ensure smooth transitions of new systems to operations
  • Help refine Project Management methodology and artifacts based on PMI, Lean, Agile and industry best practices

Qualifications

  • At least seven (7) years of experience as a Project Manager and Business Analyst in professional services, preferably a law firm
  • Strong knowledge of legal processes and applications is a plus
  • Degree in Computer and Information Science, Business or a related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to senior executives
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Project experience with IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, space transformations and process improvements
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; attention to detail
  • An analytical and critical thinker
  • High degree of professionalism with the ability to work with people at all levels
  • Stays up to date with information technology trends
  • Highly technical, while being able to translate technical language into non-technical terms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Visio; familiarity with Monday.com or any other cloud-based project management tools would be a plus
