Objective

The V&V Engineer is responsible for providing fully Validated, Verified, and Integrated projects according to Alstom's core technical processes. The V&V Engineer works as part of the core engineering team under functional leadership of the Project Engineering Manager. The V&V Engineer receives design inputs from Project Engineering and provides outputs to the customer, Test & Commissioning (field), and the design team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Specify and design overall tests: test architecture (test plan), test design (test cases)
  • Prepare overall tests (test plan, tests sheets and tests scenario) by bringing the most realistic customer and operational context possible in factory set-up, so to be as relevant as the site context and need
  • Perform test sessions: run test procedures, produce test reports and associated Change Requests
  • If applicable: perform customer acceptance tests, participate to site tests
  • Specify, design, develop and validate test environment & tools (test bench, recording tools, simulated I/O ...)
  • Perform investigations on defects detected on test bench or on site
  • Estimate workload, realize scheduling and follow-up of validation activities
  • Manage V&V work products under configuration management according to Configuration Management Plan
  • Ensure test traceability vs. requirements according to Requirements Management Plan
  • Provide support to sub-systems validation teams in their execution

Educational Requirements

BS Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline. Master’s Degree is a plus.

Experience

It is required at least 5-7 years of experience working with signaling in areas such as V&V, Design, Application or under signaling/railway operation control (dispatcher, RTC) with local regulations (i.e. CROR rules).

Specific experience with Integrated Control Center (ATS, SCADA, Security), Interlocking, Carborne, PTC, CBTC, Cybersecurity is desired.

Knowledge in PLC programming, software coding, test automation/scripting experience is a plus

Strong leadership skills to interact with all internal and external stakeholders
