Are you an experienced I&IT architecture professional, with hands-on experience, looking to create solutions and solve challenges in our dynamic and rapidly changing world? Join the Architecture and Quality Assurance Unit within Community Services I&IT Cluster and be part of an inclusive multi-disciplinary team to support the planning, design, implementation and delivery of solution architecture for client systems.

Our I&IT organization empowers digital services and programs for Ontario's Ministry of Education (MEDU), Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH), Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU), Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming (MTCG), Ministry of Sport and Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM).

This role will require strong, enterprise-scale technical and architectural skills and experience, with hands-on expertise in the following architecture domains: business, technology, application, security and information. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the planning, design and developments of solution architecture and participate in the development of architecture standards, guidelines and best practices.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:

• provide expertise in information technology (IT) architecture in a number of the following domains: business, application, technical, information, and security architecture and includes enterprise architecture frameworks, strategies and methodologies
• contribute to the planning, design, delivery and implementation of architecture solutions related to I&IT projects required to meet the critical business requirements of our ministry partners working closely with project teams
• contribute to the definition and evaluation in the development of architecture policies, standards, guidelines and best practices affecting ministry/cluster initiatives

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

• You have expertise in I&IT enterprise architecture with applied expertise in the business, information, and application domains, IT strategies, policies, plans, current and emerging enterprise architecture principles, methodologies, mechanisms and techniques.
• You are able to assess client needs and requirements and ensure that they are reflected in the solution design and delivery.
• You have knowledge of application, security and technical best practices to provide practical expertise to meet complex and diverse needs.
• You have knowledge of current industry best practices and standards relating to information/data management, systems analysis, performance and capacity management, development, testing, and implementation methods and can apply them in a practicable manner.

Leadership Skills:

• You can provide guidance and training to project staff engaged in architecture and solution-related project activities.
• You can provide guidance to staff, schedule activities and explain/document procedures related to the solution.
• You can establish effective working relationships, obtain buy-in for solution development and promote solutions to senior management and stakeholders.
• You can lead project status meetings and other branch activities related to architecture priorities.

Research and Analytical Skills:

• You can resolve integration and design issues to address multiple solutions/data linkages, interdependencies and impacts where requirements are not initially clear.
• You can plan and coordinate all phases of complex multi ministry/cluster architecture for solutions supporting both internal/external clients and stakeholders.
• You can develop appropriate performance measures that are adaptive and responsive to address the continuous introduction of new and emerging technologies, use of unfamiliar or unproven technology, broadly defined or undefined business and systems requirements
• You can research and recommend innovative information and solutions architecture alternatives and integration strategies.

Communication, Consultation, and Collaboration Skills:

• You can present IT strategies, options, and solutions to management and stakeholders.
• You can provide recommendations on the most effective architecture and solution design strategies, and influence decision-makers.
• You can facilitate consultations involving multiple partners, stakeholders and clients to discuss technology trends, IT standards and architecture.

Project Management Skills:

• You have experience leading IT projects and are familiar with project management procedures and methodologies.
• You can provide guidance and direction to a project team.
