Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $66, 924 - $83, 655 annually (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Status: Temporary, Full-Time (Contract until June 2026)

Position Summary

The Financial Analyst II supports the Clinical Finance Portfolio and reports to the Sr. Finance Business Manager to perform a broad scope of professional accounting activities requiring experience, professional knowledge, and application of accounting principles and practices.

The scope of the role includes performing relatively independently, a wide range of detailed and complex accounting and advisory functions including performing analyses for a range of complex functional centre accounts. Duties also include preparing month end journal entries and adjustments to ensure statements and reports are accurate.

The role works closely with clinical programs finance leads, management and directors in building reports and templates to facilitate decision making, exploring and implementing process improvement projects including optimization of reports and visualization tools as well as cross-function duties consistent with the job classification.

Duties

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly journal entries as required
  • Participate in the quarterly forecast and annual budget process
  • Support clinical programs finance with analyzing and evaluating unit/division level financials
  • Provide support to business manager in process improvement projects
  • Modelling and analyzing large volume of clinical data to help drive decision making including case volume and personnel planning
  • Liaising with corporate departments including Finance and other stakeholders for support and to inform the build of templates and reports that facilitate strategic decision making
  • Research and explore technology that enhances financial reporting including visual reporting tools. Collaboratively build, implement and cross train finance staff on the use of such reporting tools
  • Providing sound and timely information to the management team to facilitate optimal decision making
  • Participate in ad-hoc clinical and financial projects by providing financial/statistical analysis and strategic insights to drive decision making
  • Performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
  • Perform and review billing activities for the program and maintain pricing tables to ensure billing accuracy
  • Generate billing activity reports to identify billing issues and collaborate with multi-functional teams to resolve errors

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business Administration, Finance or equivalent program
  • Working towards professional accounting designation (CPA) or graduate business degree (MBA) is preferred
  • Three years related experience in an accounting/business environment with exposure to analyze and interpret complex financial/business data
  • Demonstrated financial analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail and demonstrated commitment to client service and satisfaction
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial and clinical data and information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Teamwork: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals. Solicits input by genuinely valuing others' ideas and expertise; is willing to learn from others.
  • Working knowledge of computer application accounting systems and software applications - proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with SAP S/4 Hana, SAC, Cognos, Microsoft Power BI or other business analytics and visual reporting tools is an asset
