POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, Research Services, the Faculty Engagement & Program Development Officer will be responsible for building, enhancing, and executing programs to develop and support the researcher community at Vector. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a unique blend of attention to detail and customer service. With a track record of project management skills, the candidate will play a pivotal role in the recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and support of Vector Faculty Members and Faculty Affiliates.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Steward the work of Vector Recruitment and Hiring Committees during open calls, and institutional hiring calls, as appropriate, advancing talent recruitment and acquisition activities for Faculty Members and Faculty Affiliates.
  • Collaborate with external university partners and internal stakeholders to ensure a positive and seamless experience during the recruitment and onboarding of Faculty Members and Affiliates.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of high-quality programming and services offered to Faculty Affiliates.
  • Develop and update processes, and lead the implementation and ongoing improvement of the Faculty Affiliate Program, that contribute to the advancement of the Vector Institute’s Al research agenda.
  • Schedule and document the annual review process and membership.
  • Oversee administration of the Faculty section of Vector’s website and intranet.
  • Maintain up-to-date onboarding and offboarding materials for Faculty Members and Faculty Affiliates.
  • Partner with the Human Resources team to ensure researcher compliance with policies and regulations, ensuring processes are both transparent and observed.
  • Liaise with the Marketing & Communications team to support various engagement and communications efforts related to the research performed by Faculty Members and Faculty Affiliates.
  • Build and nurture cooperative working relationships with other internal teams to foster synergy across programs and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Analyze and respond to data requests for metrics reporting and program needs, ensuring accurate and timely information.
  • Undertake other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of Research Operations and Academic Partnerships team and the Vector Institute.


KEY SUCCESS MEASURES:

  • Programming is well-executed such that stakeholder feedback and engagement is strong and reflective of high-quality service delivery;
  • Productive relationships are established and maintained with Vector Faculty Members and Faculty Affiliates; and,
  • Timely and well thought out programs and services supporting the smooth running of processes and business requirements at Vector are implemented.


PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Holds, at minimum, a university degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, in roles that have included project delivery, program implementation, policy analysis, and stakeholder coordination;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work and collaborate with a diverse group of individuals and stakeholders in a team environment (e.g., Faculty members, Faculty affiliates, senior external researchers, leadership teams, operations staff, and graduate students), maintaining confidentiality and providing all with a trusted, respectful point of contact;
  • Proven experience in project and program management exemplified by strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Experience in an academic research environment is a strong asset;
  • Has a data-driven mindset and the ability to translate data into actionable insights with a keen eye for detail, and can quickly identify and troubleshoot problems that arise;
  • Takes a proactive and autonomous approach to problem-solving and decision-making;
  • Is creative and enjoys collaborating within a small entrepreneurial environment that is results-driven;
  • Possess a positive attitude, integrity, a sense of humor, is tactful, and brings a positive energy and outlook to a not-for-profit corporate culture; and
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
