This is a full-time in-person position based in our spacious office in Toronto.

About the Role

PheedLoop is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our technology strategy and execution. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven track record of driving technological innovation, building scalable solutions, and fostering a culture of excellence within the technology team. Your responsibilities will include:

Technology Leadership

  • Develop and implement the overall technology strategy in alignment with the company's business objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the technology team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Product Development

  • Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize features, enhancements, and technical requirements.

Infrastructure and Security

  • Manage and optimize the company's technical infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for data protection and cybersecurity.

Innovation and Emerging Technologies

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, driving innovation within the company's product offerings.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance product capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.

Team Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing technology team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years full-time software development work experience
  • Proficient in a backend development framework (Python/Django preferred)
  • Proficient in a frontend development framework (React/Redux preferred)
  • Experience with a cloud hosting provider (AWS preferred)
  • Proficient with REST API design, development, and third-party integrations
  • Experience working with databases - directly and using ORMs
  • Experience writing clean and maintainable code
  • Experience with Git and version control
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills (critical requirement to as documentation is a large part of this role)
  • Can work in a fast-paced dynamic environment, often independently with tight deadlines
  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or other science/engineering field
  • Portfolio of personal projects

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Python/Django
  • Experience with Figma and design tools
  • Previous experience leading development teams or working at small companies
