We're looking for a Director, Platform & Infrastructure, to provide strategic and tactical direction on all aspects of site reliability and cloud engineering, operations and observability, build and deploy pipelines, and incident response. Reporting to the Vice President, Software Development, you'll design and implement policies to modernize and optimize automation, reliability, and self-service while maintaining highly available infrastructure platforms used by millions of global customers. This role is open to applicants located in Canada or the USA.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Within your team:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the reporting staff, including selection, coaching, mentoring, development, performance management, and all other people-management practices, including DE&I.
  • Collaborate with the executive leader to build a vision, strategy and a plan to design, implement, scale, and maintain infrastructure platforms.
  • Provide technical and thought leadership to the team, ensuring they apply the latest
  • Platform engineering techniques and industry best practices to enable the most strategic business priorities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of technical software development and operations/ devops engineers in medium to large scale SaaS environments.
  • Define and implement a production operations roadmap including cloud infrastructure, continuous integration, staging and production environments, compliance, network performance, and product and delivery requirements.
  • Plan, design and oversee the implementation and maintenance of industry standard site reliability processes across a development organization - work with teams to set service level objectives, and establish indicators and remediation processes.
  • Own and manage the AWS forecasting, spend and relationship management.
  • Develop, socialize, report and refine appropriate metrics to monitor and improve performance, and publish dashboards to communicate widely.
  • Collaborate cross functionally and with external clients around incident response and coordination.

Within CTO organization:

  • Enable high-quality collaboration with product, operations, security & design teams.
    • Maintain and grow Hootsuite security posture overall
    • Ensure major audit and compliance standards (FedRAMP, SOC2, GDPR, etc)
    • Facilitate platform needs to execute against Product roadmap.
  • Drive conversations and discussions with product, design, and managers, to refine and deliver on the roadmap
  • Partner with the rest of the CTO organization needs by identifying gaps and working to resolve them.
  • Recognize opportunities and champion change & process improvement to the benefit of the entire organization.
  • Improve the planning and execution abilities of the team and hold the organization accountable for development estimates and delivery.
  • Work directly alongside teams of software developers in a continuous delivery environment.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 10+ years experience in software development and/or SaaS organizations
  • 8+ years of people management experience in a software organization, including experience leading leaders
  • Thorough knowledge with cloud compute platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Thorough understanding of discipline around Infrastructure as Code and Devops
  • Proven ability to utilize Agile methodologies and apply to teams with high levels of interrupt driven work.
  • Well versed with a deep knowledge of the trends of IaaS/PaaS offerings and a track record migrating legacy applications on to modern platforms.
