Director, Data Protection - Technology and Innovation

What is the opportunity?

As the Director of Transformation, Data Protection, you will be responsible for leading a team of developers in driving strategic transformation initiatives that align with the Data Protection vision and strategy. With a focus on technology-driven innovation, you will oversee the development and implementation of solutions that standardize, automate, and optimize processes. Your leadership will ensure improved risk management, enhanced operational efficiency, and better decision-making through data-driven insights.

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of developers to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of AI-driven solutions that standardize and automate key processes.
  • Work closely with engineering and data teams to implement LLM-based tools, AI-driven analytics, and workflow automation.
  • Drive the integration of new technologies with existing financial systems and operational frameworks.
  • Partner with key stakeholders, including risk, compliance, operations, and technology teams, to ensure seamless adoption of new processes.
  • Develop and track KPIs and success metrics to measure the effectiveness of transformation efforts and report progress to senior leadership.
  • Ensure projects comply with regulatory and security requirements, aligning with RBC's governance framework.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 10+ years of experience in transformation, technology leadership, or process optimization within financial services.
  • Proven track record of leading technical teams in developing and automation solutions.
  • Understanding of large language models (LLMs), AI applications, and automation technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, compliance, and operational best practices in financial institutions.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, product development lifecycles, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Undergraduate degree in business or related field
  • Ability to manage competing priorities; completing all in required timelines and working with stakeholders to ensure prioritization meets needs

Nice to have:

  • Experience in AI-driven transformation projects in banking or financial services.
  • Knowledge of data science, machine learning, and financial modeling.
