Job Description:

Role Summary:

Data Management Services (DMS) is responsible for the day-to-day support of databases and data access middleware across North America. Our mandate is to focus on enabling our business partners through technology currency, emerging technologies, governance, and security as well as empowering them with Business Intelligence (BI) tools. The successful *candidate is expected to have a passion for Information Technologies and will need to be able to pick up, understand and become proficient in a wide range of software products and technologies.

As a member of the DMS team, the Delivery Coordinator will play an integral part of the relationship management, planning and delivery for the DMS portfolio of projects. The successful candidate will have 2 or more years of experience in Information Technology, with at least 1 or more years of demonstrated experience in Project Management and/or Delivery Coordination/Management. This role will be accountable to initiate, plan and mobilize project teams, and then govern them through to execution. She/he is accountable to remove barriers and facilitate solutions to address business partners' needs.

What will you do?

  • Involvement in project intake and estimation.
  • Participate in end-to-end solution delivery to deliver projects on time, on budget and with required quality.
  • Work closely with the Architect and DMS Leadership during the concept phase of project to define project delivery approach and methodology.
  • Lead projects from project initiation to implementation.
  • Have a reusable solutions mindset for processes or work products that meet or exceed business requirements.
  • Align with appropriate organization, governance, decision making, and delivery structures in place to drive outcomes articulated in the business case, CBA, business requirements, and program/project charter.
  • Follow standards and best practices for project/program management processes.
  • Provide timely and effective communication vehicles exist between program/project teams, sponsors, stakeholders, etc.
  • Perform regular delivery risk reviews and support the project teams with escalations and resolutions as required [may be required to act as escalation point for delivery issues].
  • Participate in project budgets, contribute innovative ideas for best practice and process improvements.
  • Establish project structure/reporting relationships by ensuring team understands project goals, the role, and responsibilities, promote/motivate/foster a positive working culture with project team members.
  • Work with Program Management to align demand with Supply capacities and ensure resources are aligned strategically to maximize project success.

What do you need to succeed?

  • University level degree in Computer Science or related information technology degree/diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience of project coordination/management experience.
  • Understand and put complex concepts into action with an ability to lead small to medium size project teams.
  • Build a strong understanding of business area drivers and priorities.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and team building skills.
  • Willingness to share ideas, make recommendations and speak up in small to medium sized groups.
  • Establish long-term partnerships with business partners, account teams and facilitate business prioritization and decisions.
  • Provide Yearly Performance survey feedback for team members and management
  • Some knowledge of Cloud concepts, Relational and Non-Relational databases.
  • Foundational knowledge of Lean/Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Mixture of strong business acumen, understanding of data and information

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
