DATA INTEGRATION SPECIALIST

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Systems Operations Manager, the Data Integration Specialist is responsible for designing and implementing data integrations and optimizations across various business systems, automating workflows, and establishing a data warehouse and business analytics environment. This role collaborates closely with the Business Analyst, project managers and business users to identify and define integration requirements. The Data Integration Specialist will partner with the Technology team to develop the organization's data architecture, reporting, and analytics environment, while selecting and implementing data management tools and platforms. This position plays a key role in supporting our user community and shaping Vector's system's strategy and business analytics environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with various business units to identify, map, document and implement optimization solutions.
  • Define and develop data integration processes between core business systems.
  • Recommend, create and optimize automated workflows using a combination of application specific tools and 3rd party integration tools that you will help select.
  • Apply basic coding and ETL scripting concepts and languages to develop and maintain data integration processes.
  • Design and implement a data warehouse to effectively store and manage the organization's data.
  • Develop data extraction processes to pull data from the organization's business systems to its data warehouse.
  • Establish a business analytics environment to facilitate data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Identify and address data entry, retrieval, change, and delete issues, and work to ensure a high level of data availability.
  • Support and enforce data privacy and security protocols by analyzing underlying causes of problems and ensuring system and data integrity.
  • Coordinate with other technical staff to develop databases as required.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement process tools to ensure quality, integrity and security of data.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate systems, tools, and services to build and maintain the organization's data management processes and environment.


KEY SUCCESS MEASURES

  • Workflows and processes across Vector are automated and optimized as is appropriate.
  • Effective selection and use of data integration methods including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), data warehousing, and API integration.
  • Ensure data consistency, accuracy, currency and flow.
  • Foster active communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on data integration initiatives.


PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • A degree or diploma in computer science or engineering, or equivalent knowledge obtained through work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience implementing data integrations and developing workflow automations in a similar or related role.
  • Proficient technical knowledge of current database software, protocols, and standards.
  • Understanding APIs, Web Services, and Microservices: this technical expertise allows for the creation of connectors and adapters necessary for integrating disparate systems.
  • Skills in relevant scripting and programming language to enable the customization and automation of integration processes.
  • Proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of integration best practices.
  • Salesforce experience is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping and methodology development, and data mapping.
  • Experience with a range of integration and data management tools and platforms.
